    Hey there,

I just switched from Serato Scratch Live to Traktor with the launch of the new Kontrol S4.

From now, I'm pretty happy with the software, well done !

I'm just very sad about the lack of support of the cover art when using the iTunes library.

As previously discussed in this thread :
    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106841&highlight=cover+art+itunes

...there is a lot of benefits of using iTunes for music management. A lot of Traktor users also seems to use this method.

Unfortunately, covert art are completely absent in the iTunes node. :(

I read some tutorials explaing how to re-embed the covert art in the ID3 tag but it did not solved the problem.

This is I guest the only feature i'm missing from Scratch Live, because i'm a very visual person.

    Regards,

Cover Art was removed from the iTunes node to speed up iTunes in the Traktor browser.

This was actually requested by many users a years or so ago.

I dont know if NI will consider its re-implentation.

Lets see if this request gets any love.

    Interesting.

Scratch Live found the way to enable Cover art for iTunes library long time ago !
I never felt my system being slowed down...

I'm sure Traktor developers can do this :D

Otherwise, maybe the software could let the user enable or disable covert art for iTunes ?

Its pretty pointless to compare though. Traktor stores way more info in the files.
load time can be dramatically increased with cover art.

SSl and Traktor are simply not comparable on these terms.

Yeah ... no embedded please ... I had huge huge huge problems (actually so much it was impossible to use Traktor).
loading times of 1 minute or more for one track ...

    Lets keep it this way

actually, most of us don't use the whole music in our libraries to play, just a few tracks from within them. guiding traktor to focus only in the ones we will be using most of the time, saves processing effort, which i think is an efficient way to work.

in my case, i have 50000+ tracks in itunes, but just 2000 of them are in a sub-folder filled with playlists for traktor use. those receive aaaall of my care and attention, they are carefully selected and manipulated to be within 'the elite of my library'.

even though i bet i don't actually use more than 600 different tunes regularly, which are already, a lot.

don't know which size are other libraries around users in this thread, but in my case, i prefer to save traktor from having to deal with 50000 track's info, cover art and so on. that's why i think, as said in other threads (http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73249), that simply having a kind of 'watch playlilst' functionality would enable us to help traktor keep the focus on whatever playlists we want from itunes to be within the traktor playlists node.

that would help both sides, us having an efficient collection managing thru itunes that would be constantly updated within traktor, and traktor being more efficient not needing to load in memory unnecessary stuff, or reducing the footprint of the music database.

i imagine it being like the gui used to sync playlists from itunes to an ipod: you see the whole itunes playlist tree, you check which playlists you want, and click on 'sync' to move these playlists (and its content) to the traktor collection.

as the beach boys sang, wouldn't it be nice...?

    +1

I organize all my music and playlists in itunes. so it's very annoying that I have to import everything just to get the images.

    thanks
