Hi, I recently instaslled kore & komplete 4 on a PC system with P4 3.4 (hyperthreading), and 2GB ram. I am using kore and plugins as stand alone, and within FL Studio with Audigy 2 ZS Plat Pro at 24/96000 audio resolution.

My CPU is way above what NI reccommends as a minimum. However Guitar Rig is sucking up way too much CPU when running in FL Studio or when used within a kore sound preset. Even ruuning in stand alone presets such as "Twin Sisters" uses up almost 55% CPU.

I just updated to version 2.2.1, and that's using even more CPU, 10% more in fact. In stand alone with the twin sisters preset it's burning up 65% CPU!

I assume Guitar Rig is intended to be used on a laptop for live aplications. So I can't see why it's using so much CPU on my desktop.

Has anyone got any ideas. Any CPU optimization advice?

Kore is an extra layer -- try running it without that.

Yes I have run GR as stand alone, and still get high CPU.

Turn off hyperthreading and see is that does anything?

How do I do that in the stand alone version?

-- I have tried switching to ASIO4ALL (v2) while using the stand alone GR. The CPU usage has dropprd right down to 27% for the twin systers preset. However, I have input as I can see from the input meter on GR, but there is no output and nothing registers on the output meter of GR!

I take that back. It's no better with ASIO4All when running in FL Studio :(

Well, much of this depends on your rig (in Guitar Rig) and how big it is and how many amps you use.

Being at 96k will make your computer work harder than it needs to, go to 44.1/24 and see how that helps.

Also, try a preset with no rigs inside of it. Tell me what the CPU is doing at that point?

That's global for your machine, and it's in your BIOS.

Marc's right about running at 96k. Try using your Audigy at 48k (an Audigy won't do 44.1 unless you don't use ASIO or use ASIO4ALL in place of the Creative ASIO drivers)- the bit depth doesn't amount to anything resource wise.

Another question- are you running GR in high res? If so, turn that off.

No not running in high res.

For some reason sinse I changed the ASIO settings, it wont output any sound. The input meter shows that there is sound going in, but the output meter does nothing, and all is silent. I have put ASIO settings back as they were, rebooted etc, and still no sound. There's not a mute button is there? Any ideas?

Yep. Sounds like the infamous no output thing to me.

Make sure on the input module, you've got the input set for one or the other and not both. If it's set for only one, try going to the other input (R instead of L, for example) and back again. Close GR (a reboot afterwards might help here) and reopen GR.

OK this is odd. I have done as you said, and it didn't make any difference. I seem to have input, but not output - I can see the input on the input meter. So I tried messing about with the ASIO settings again, and I now can not change them. Every time I do, they revert next time I start GR up. The ASIO setting is reverting to the Audigy 24/96, and the original in/out settings. I can't change them!
