CPU save thanks to audio plugin ... with Re-pitch engine only ?

    Hi guys,

I think I understood why I have projects with almost no effects and no synths but still with a high CPU usage.
I discovers that in projects with a lot of groups using the "audio plugin" (the one that read loops you know), if I don't
set the stretch engine in "re-pitch mode", it uses way too much CPU.

Let say for instance that you want to make a song with a lot of dubbed recorded voices/instruments, or that you have a lot of audio loops that already fits your tempo. In this case (and if you don't need to change the tempo ofc) the stretch engine is not really necessary....
and yet, if the engine is not set by the user to "re-pitch" "stretch", it uses too many CPU.

That's not really optimized as you don't need the engine.

That should be optimized... and maybe it is also time to have a good "freeze track" option
    instead of rendering also.

The Audio module/plugin is pretty CPU-intensive for what it is. I've noticed the same when there are a lot in a project. It's one of the main reasons I tend not to use it and still just trigger any phrases/loops with the Sampler.

It took me some time to figure it out. I though my computer was faulty...

Have you tried the audio plugin in "repitch mode " ? Is Is still more CPU hungry than the sampler ?

It should behave similarly (in terms of CPU) to the Sampler due to the way it works and what it's doing, just with a different interface (different options), though I've not spent a lot of time with it or done any testing.

Ok, it was my guess since I discovered that issue. But I wanted to know if you still experimented some differences.
However, when rendering a loop, the audio plugin is used by default and that s too bad the engine is set to "stretch" by default...

Try setting the Audio plugin's default state to use Re-pitch: add an Audio module, change to Re-pitch, Save as default.

I didn't know there was default settings for internal plugins.
    Thanks !
