Hi I have a problem I'm running Traktor Pro Scratch on a 1 gen MacBook Pro 2ghz Intel Core Duo 1 GB of RAM 80GB Hardrive.
I run 2 decks with FX and Key Lock on.

It has been running smoothly since release until 2 days ago now I get severe CPU spikes that result in stuttered play ....
I have always had Key lock on before on Hi Qual Setting and it always run smoothly now I have to switch it off for Traktor to Run smoothly ....
The DJ support line says my spec should be able to handle all the features switched (Key correction , FX ) even in the Lo Qual Key lock setting I still get CPU spikes and stuttered play what is going weong ?

Any advice would be much appreciated I have a major Gig this weekend and have lost confidence to play out with PRO...

Dude more RAM for a start . 2gig minimum id say despite what the required specs may say especially if you are using Keylock and Hi Qual settings.

If your Mac is not Core Duo2 then 2gig Ram is the max you can have.
    What OSX version?

I know Ram is the obvious thing but why did it all run smoothly until recently and then change ?
    It makes no sense ...

Have you made sure to shut down all background tasks, turn off airport, etc? Are you making sure to restart your Mac before you begin playing?

Any other attached hardware, controllers etc?

Even when running 4 decks with effects and key lock, the CPU meters in both TPro and Activity Monitor show an absolutely minimal hit on my end. My Mac is a higher spec but doesn't seem like it's THAT much higher.

Despite users posting the contrary, turning OFF airport is essential for me to prevent spikes and crackles.
Please dont anybody jump in here "i dont have to your talking rubbish" because with OSX 10.4.11 i still have to turn airport off.

Why this would only happen now after it running smoothly is a worry.
Try turning it off and any other background tasks as Greenie advises.
I know this is basic advice but it could work.

    Post your results mate.

I had this problem & went to the Mac store & saw a genius.
He ran Activity Monitor from the utilities folder & it showed that Traktor uses a serious amount of ram. We installed another gig of ram & it's all fine.
It's always a good idea to quit everything except Traktor to reduce the possibility of of trouble.
I'm sure that if you put an extra gig in your machine it will solve your problem.

Try this place, they are about the cheapest (i think)

    Good Luck

Thanks for the advice guys I have installed a another gig of Ram turn Airport and all other programs of but Hi Qual Key lock still instantly turns up the CPU meter .... so for now I play without Key Lock I'm upgrading to the new Macbook Pro within weeks so until then I will probably be fine...
I also phoned native instruments and they didn't have any more to say apart from what was already mentioned in this thread thanks anyway ....

Good news. The extra ram was always gonna make a big difference. You shouldnt really have probs with the Mac you have even though its first Gen and therefore not coreDuo2 but seeing as your buying a brand new Macbook Pro which will be faster than mine and have more RAM ive now decided to hate you forever...:D
