Just purchased the audio 6 dj and after about 3 hours I got a crackling anfd popping sound from my speakers like they had blown except they hadn't all gains on mixer we're on green but I realised the master volume on traktor was in the red could this be the cause for this crackling or is my audio 6 broke I'm hoping its cause is the levels in the red on traktor but if they were green on my allen and heath this shouldn't of happend correct?

If the levels go into the red on traktor your audio signal is clipping which is what the pops and crackles are. It doesn't matter that your A&h is in the green, it's too late the signal is already distorted. Turn your master volume in traktor down until it stops going into the red.

did you adjust the latency settings to determine the limits of your system?

it may not be faulty hardware - you need to find out which latency setting the soundcard is happy to run at.

X2, check your latency as well as your USB Buffer size. I would jump up to 4mb for your USB buffer. Give it a shot and keep latency at 44k. You should have better quality through that.

My latency is on 20 seconds so it should be fine as my macbook if fairly new 13 inch with I5 processor and 4 gig of ram macbook pro itsself is barely 2 months old think its the soundcard ?

Also are there no latency setting on traktor LE2 as I've also got a ddj-tw and can't find the settings in the pref?

Latency should be around 11ish, mine is currently 11.2ms. I am running a Dell with a Core 2 Duo a total of 4.4ghz. So with a Macbook running less strain, you could run the same. I also have 4gig DDR2 ram. So setup should be as follows, at least in theory to get rid of your crackle, 44100 Hz Sample Rate/192 Process Buffer/4ms USB Buffer=11.2 Latency. I used to have crackle through my Audio Kontrol 1, but have been running this for quite some time with no issues. Good luck, I'll check back to see if you fixed the issues.

You can download a Free latency checker here:DPC Latency Checker

This will give you an idea if your computer can handle the load.

Oh, Also be sure your Internet is off. Wi-Fi is the number one cause of audio dropouts!

I'm sorry guys, I really don't have any experience with MAC.

Why don't you try a Google Search for a Latency Checker for MAC and see what you can come with.

While doing a search, I came up with this topic: HOWTO: Low DPC latencies (<100 us) on bootcamped Macbooks (Pro) on a website named Apple Support Communities, hope that helps a little.

And don't forget, be sure your Internet is off. Wi-Fi is the number one cause of audio dropouts!
