I was just doing some tests with the time machine 2.

1 sample no tracks in cubase.

I dragged the speed right down to zero and it froze totally.

I am using a twin xeon 3.2 should I switch off multi cpu support?

serious reproducable bug in time machine

freezes every time with cubase 4, time machine, switched off dual cpu support in kontakt.

    makes no difference

every time you reduce the speed to zero (which is an effect that a lot of people like to do)

m-audio audiophile card, twin xeon 3.2, 3 gig ram

it's all the time stretch related sources

when you reduce the speed to zero the thing freezes - game over.

It's reading posts like this that severely put me off upgrading to KontaKt 3.

Why should i pay money to upgrade when the program is riddled with bugs, just as K2 was, that should have been beta tested out far before the product was cleared for release?

Kontakt is a fantastic program when it works, but these ridiculous programming bugs have plagued this product for far too long. I believe each update of K2 fixed bugs by adding workarounds to the code. As time progressed i have read that the code for this program has degenerated into spaghetti with quick fixes & patches all over the place, creating a product that works but can become unstable very easily. I would imagine they carried this code over to K3 (bugs and all!) instead of starting to program K3 from scratch.

At present, K2 is good for loading & playing presets only. Any editing etc,. is running the risk of it locking the whole computer up, which is a pretty sorry state of affairs for a program of this price.

I really hope they can sort this program out, as it's a fantastic concept, but i doubt it as a complete rebuild is not something they are going to do after the product is already released. This will probably only be done when they release a 64bit version.

I hate to say it but welcome to the club. I'd recommend you go back to 2.2 and wait. That's what I am doing.

but to be fair the new features are very funky

Once they have stabilised it I think it will be awesome!

yes i have found it to be slightly more stable but k3 still doesn't like being used alongside certain other VSTi's such as USBplugsounds where as it gets on fine with Dash EVE synth:confused:

I can only cross my fingers and hope. The Cubase 4.1 update is very very nice btw.

Yup - I started work on a track last night just to play with it (WIP on my myspace), not tried any of the sidechaining stuff (nor did I try K3) but it seemed...quicker for want of a better word.

    cubase 4.1 makes no difference

I replicated exactly the same freezing behaviour with 4.1 and the tone machine with speed zero.

Forgot to add, I don't need to do anything out of ordinary for it to crash. Loading anything from the library and starting/stoping a project does it.

Did you guys installed Kontakt 3 with your antivirus/spyware enabled?

Try reinstalling with these applications turned off... It worked for me!... It doesn't crash Cubase 4 anymore.

(but I will still keep working with Kontakt 2.2 until they fix everything in K 3)

I installed the Cubase 4.1 yesterday (on WinXP) and tried a few things which are mentioned in this thread. On my PC K3 only freezes when the tone machine is set to zero. Both time machines don´t have the freezing problem when set to zero. K3 crashes when it´s used together with Halion One player from Cubase 4 or together with Sampletank.
