Really disappointed 2.7.4 is not stable and user reported issue have yet again been ignored.

This problem was reported in 2.7.2 beta and on 2.7.3 from multiple users and was not fixed? I also opened a TT with support about this in early feb support tried to say it was my music files. If so why does this not happen on 2.6.8 with the same files/folders and why does this happen with other users?

I can understand minor bugs but when you have one that causes a crash.. it make me think what else did NI miss that could potential cause a crash.

    Here is the Crash Log:

    Hi,

I asked you in the other thread also for a crashlog but never received one. This is not a crashlog, its a hanglog and support is right it can be a specific file in your collection which causes the hang. When I am back in the office tomorrow I will tell you how you can enable verbose logging and then we can see more information. Hang logs are pretty useless for us, it only hints towards a place where the problem is.

No crash log was generated only the hang log.

I would be happy to do added logging and testing with you but why can't NI take the time to duplicate the issue and than analyze it?

I am not the only one reporting this issue. I feel like NI makes like 1 or 2 attempt to try and reproduce the problem and come the the quick solution of it must be a "user problem" and does not take the time to look at reported issue in a more meaningful way.

    http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/traktor-is-freezing-in-history.234002/#post-1356005

In this thread 2 other users report the same thing. I believe there were some other treads that had more issues reference the same or similar problem.

Another thing... If support is right that its a specific file in my collection....why does the same folder or archive file when accessed via 2.6.8 not cause any issues?

I went and back to 2.6.8 and tried numerous times does not crash. Plus i been using explorer node and archive with the same music for a while now and never had this issue.

The crash is not specific to a folder or archive file i explained all of this to support yet...it seems NI is quick to blame something other than the 2.7 release.

@TroyMichael; Sander's advice about 'verbose logging' is good.
If I'm right this is extended logging and will pull out far more information than a standard crash log.

Until you do this I don't see how NI support can proceed with your issue.

Karlos I take a look at the logging. Why do you think this problem only happens on 2.7 releases?

I will get back to with the loging info later today to hopefully help with the issues.

I am also getting a crash in Explorer when looking at the history or browsing the hard drive. The crash is not always in the same folder I checked. The crash comes after flipping thru a few folders or directories.

Thank you Irv_TF for duplicating the crash problem i am have experience in every version of 2.7.

Support & the guys here seem to think this is Not a Traktor Issue .... I am sorry guys but your wrong Take the time to get this back to NI testing people to duplicate it and than resolve it. Its a major issue i am trying to point out to you and help you and NI.

If you think this is not a NI software issue. Explain why this does not happen on 2.6.8 and why it does happen with other users and with different folders and files.

    Kier,

Karlos sent me a document to do the added logging . It was blurry and i could not get the instructions needed to provided the added logging. Please provide me with the direction on how to do the logging and i will send it to you. I am sure Irv_TF would be will to do the same. If you want me to do added testing with me or want me to show you personally on a live Skype session I would be happy to do that.

I am pretty sure if your testing and support team spend a bit more time and that this report seriously you will be able to duplicate the problem.

NI peps i am still waiting for you the document to do the logging that you request. When can you send this to me? I really like to get this to you can see this is a true software issue which you can than resolve.

FYI. I duplicated this issue on a friend computer a MBP on maverick.

Exactly the same issue here. Macbook pro Retina 15, OSX 10.10 and S8 controller. i've been having this issue since 2.7.3, and it's the same with this beta. I'm a Traktor user for 10 years now, and 2.7.x are the worst builds I've ever seen. So many issues, the software crashes constantly. So I'm stuck with a 1200$ piece of hardware that I can't use. Get your shits together NI, and listen to your customers.

Thanks for duplicating and reporting the issue. I really hope that more people report this as NI does not seem to take the report of this problem seriously and still believes this is a user issue because support has not been able to duplicate the issue.

with the s8 my recommendation is to open a support ticket and also return your S8 for a full refund before its too late. From my experience NI moves very slow in resolving these type of issues and from what i see NI has yet even acknowledged that is is a software problem even tough this was reported back on the 2.7.2 beta.

The S4 Mk 2 when it was a releases was a major failure which NI took i believe close to year to resolve and seem to only take action people started to return them.

If the issue gets resolved at a later date you can go back and buy and use the S8 with more confidence.

I think if software is becoming bigger due to updates/upgrades then needs more ram size than before to function properly otherwise it causes slow down or crash problems, also valid for this 64 bit version.

I have done some testing. I believe this crash happens after loading a large iTunes Library. I can scroll through my history and explorer before I load my iTunes Library. Right after loading my iTunes Library (25,500 songs) I crash and burn when trying to scroll through explorer or history.

In my favorites I have my iTunes Library and playlists within the iTunes Library. This forces iTunes to load dooming my chances of loading the explorer node and history. I imagine the rest you are having a problem after loading a large iTunes library or possibly a large Traktor library.

This took a while to figure out. I am going to start needing paychecks from NI soon if I keep dedicating this much time to troubleshooting Traktor.

you could be on the right path. this could be why i saw it happen several times while playing (luckily while my booth mate was playing so i could silently restart traktor...), but could not reproduce it at home on purpose.

thanks @Irv_Tf, i'll try it this afternoon and report back.

confirmed, it hangs when trying to open a history playlist, both while itunes node is loading, and after it has completely loaded (i tried both possibilities).

I received a message about my opened ticket... They are "aware of the issue". They asked me to roll back to 2.6.8 but it's isn't fixed in 2.7.4. I'm really pissed right now.

At least NI is finally recognized the problem. This crash issue has been around for several months now and in every version of the 2.7 releases. In my case support told me they could not duplicate it and said it was probably bad files.

Being that its taking them this long to actually recognize the issue, how long do you think it will take for them to resolve it?

The biggest problem i have with NI, is not this problem but the way it was handled. This is good example of how NI standard mode of operation is hurting everyone.

NI moves way to slow and needs to start listening to its users.

NI peps feel free to comment and provide feedback here with any updates on this issue.
