crashing as soon as it opens

Any one else having a problem with there s8. Im using windows 7 ultimate with i5. Run pro 2.6 fine on my s4 mk1. Updated firmware running 2.7. Can use 2.7 via laptop but the second I turn on s8 it crashes. Help please

 

s8 driver installed? try reinstallation

 

Ok ive done that. Now it starts up but I cant touch laptop to go full screen or anything else with out crashing. Just using the s8 I get 2mins into track and it crashes again

 

If you do a search of these forums there is a file you delete and Traktor has to rebuild it's settings or something..

I had this a couple of times when a music file goes corrupt.

 

Can you be more specific please im not that good at this

 

try deleting everything in your documents / traktor version folder and then reinstall it again

 

This might work.
Shut down Traktor
Then you need to navigate to your Native Instruments folder and find a file called 'traktorsettings.tsi'
Copy and paste it somewhere safe and then delete it from the Traktor folder.
Then start Traktor. Traktor will be forced to create a new version of the file.

When doing anything like this you should backup your Traktor folders.

Please do not do this.

Why not? I've done it some times without any problem...

 

Because you lose all your custom made mappings that are stored in the Settings Folder plus all your History and Backup Collections and Backup Settings.tsi.
The only file that needs deleting is the traktorsettings.tsi unless you have a corrupt collection in which can you replace the file, collection.nml

Thanks guys for the help but still no joy. I found the n.i folder 2.7 opened it found 6folders & some lose collection data & the traktor settings tsi. I copy & pasted out also found another in the settings folder &copy that out as well. I re started pro2 & got the set up wizard but as soon as I clicked next it crashed. I did manage after multiple starts last nite to mix for an hour just using a&b decks and only touching the s8 not laptop but it eventually crashed

 

Please file this with support and attach the crash logs.

 

Hi Anthony, I have been following this post from the start and was wondering if you managed to fix the issue.

I am also experiencing the same thing and am currently waiting for NI to get back to me after providing the result of my system check report.

No one else had mentioned they are having the same issue so Im letting you know that you're not alone with this.

Fingers crossed that NI find the solution soon.

Im With DJRecall there, Same issue...

What I managed to do to get it to boot in without immediately crashing (although now it crashes every time i close traktor) is:

1) reinstall the driver
2) immediately stop windows from detecting & Installing the new driver (why it does that when i just installed the driver and rebooted is beyond me) I suspect the current driver is not mature, I PRAY that NI will get a better driver written soon.
3) reinstall 2.7.1
4) update my video card driver (absolutely no idea why its an issue other than the S8 displays might work as a 2nd montior)

Before 2.7.1 I had horrible popping & noise while playing any tracks. Using any effect crashed traktor. Now everything sounds OK, except when I go to close traktor it crashes.

2.7.1 works fine with my A8, Z1, F1, X1. Crashing only occurs on S8

No Idea how to get the close crash to stop... tried reinstalls, deleting the file mentioned above, etc...

 

still waiting I'm gutted to say. filed report Friday was hoping that this being the flagship would of at least been a phone call on Monday with a tech on the other end

 

I regret to say I eat my words. Basically everything is "fine" as long as I dont touch my laptop after traktor boots. Sometimes i can move my mouse (touchpad) and it wont crash, other times just touching the touchpad causes a crash. This is really irritating to have spent $1200 bucks to only be able to use my old gear.

Here is a bit of information that might be useful to NI... Everything is fine with the S8 off / disconnected. I went into the controller Manager within Traktor, could select any of my devices with no problem until I clicked on the S8. Then Traktor immediately crashed.

Also what is interesting is that traktor is NOT saving my crashlogs since 2.7

And a final bit of information... When I delete my Traktors Setting.tsi file, traktor crashes as soon as the wizard comes up with the S8 Connected. I can confirm none of my other controllers/audio cards have this happen (a8, z1, x1, f1).

NI please let us know you know of the problem and are working on a fix?

Hi Anthony, Im also wondering where some personal support is too considering this is their flagship DJ product .. but I guess we just have to give them the benefit of doubt that they are working on the issue (It would be nice to have at least an email saying this).

I keep telling myself that the S8 is a new product so there's bound to be some issues outside of what NI can test for on a limited range of setups.. I bet there's no problems like this on a Mac

Mrromo, I didnt know about the new update 2.7.1 or the new driver.. I installed them, ran the program and for about 2 seconds I thought everything was ok.... then it crashed!

I hadnt thought of the Video driver update, I may have look at that later..

My crashlogs are not recorded either.

Anyway, fingers crossed lads..the S8 will work eventually

Please file these issues with NI technical support if you haven't already.

When filing with support please only file it once and post the ticket number here and I will escalate them.

I have already seen yours @mrromo .

my traktor(2.7.1) whit the s8 running on pc hp windows 7 64bit , 4g , 2.35GH , amd redeon 7400m
and almost evry time i open traktor its crash and shut down/
i was trayin to re instell all, driver update device updater, dellite the traktorsetting.tsi , update my graphics card
but nothing work. the progrem keep crashing. i send ni suport a massege befor 3 days... steel waiting for an ansower..
