hey all i am new here....

is there a way to create mapped kits from loops that do not contain timing information? i have looked everywhere i can think of but it seems battery can only create kits from loops that already have timing information. no?

the alternative for me would be to use ableton live to do the job but then again it's going to be a rather long winded process to then export each audio file to battery!

You can take drum loops with no timing ( acidized or rex ) information and create kits it just takes a few seconds longer to do. This can be done all in battery without going to a external editor. All you have to do is treat it as a ASR type instrument and by that i mean you have to copy and paste the sample into multiple cells and crop or trim the start and end points. The good thing is that using the same sample takes up no extra memory as it is just a copy and you just move the start and end of the sample as needed in each cell.

So for a example load a drum loop and copy it as many times as you need sounds from the kit. Say it has 5 diffrent sounds. then in each cell move the start and end point to the range of just the sample you want to play. You can also do this and adjust the parameters to make copys of the same sound and tune it diffrent for more variations. Example 2 of the same kicks but tune 1 down to make a "ghost" kick. this is the way we had to use sampling in the ASR line of products. Also you can use tracking and set the high and low midi key to play out 1 sound tuned in diffrent cells. A example of this would be if you had 1 piano key but wanted to make a short section to play with your drums.
