If any of this was remotely true then it'd already be done.

Remember, we are talking about NI here, not about another company who actually gets stuff done.

They get plenty of stuff done https://www.native-instruments.com/en/ although, having said that, if you get your CV in to them tomorrow I'm sure we can all be enjoying song mode by this weekend ;)

yeah I just wanted to lay that myth to rest because inevitably in these discussions it always seems to come up at some point :)
when you buy a computer based instrument today you are without a doubt buying into a system with future updates and this is not some one sided assumption, developers tell you there is more on the way so this future is exactly what they are selling you, not a static software instrument like sometimes quoted on the forum..... as a matter of fact if they told you they would not update the software on the box, no one would buy it.

Haha I'd wish man but I am pretty sure it's not a question of "how" but rather "if" because of reasons we will never understand.

Show any programmer a 1 and a 2 bar pattern scene and ask them how hard it would be to make a query that stops the shorter pattern after it's been played. EVERY of them will tell you it's the simplest sh*t ever unless they didn't code the whole sequencer like a pile of mud (which might be the case but I really hope it isn't)

also, why so negative towards me?

Joking hence the smiley mate. Anyway, the reasons I think we've not seen this stuff yet is:
    - it's not as simple to add features as you are suggesting. If it was that simple, they'd have added them. Big wins for little effort would be a no brainer
    - they've been getting other things done instead. To be honest I'd rather see them concentrate on core Maschine features and not integration with Komplete Kontrol / NKS etc

Your logic is laughable at best. First off, who came up with the idea "give them some half ass **** and we will keep updating it when we find out what is wrong". And then you try to use "software" as a call card as if it is not anything more than a product just like a TV is a product or a washing machine or a car for that matter. Okay, let's make this car with bugs in it but being that it is 1.0, we can tell them we will make updates,....maybe 1.1.1.1 we can give them a gas pedal and 1.1.1.2 a brake pedal but we will have to wait til 1.2 before we give them the actual brakes. That is how stupid most of these "software is an upgradeable entity" sound. It is sickening. Then it's "oh, if you knew how long it takes to program, you wouldn't say it is taking too long". That is more crap. the programming in Metal Gear Solid V or any other extensive video game probably has more lines of code than Maschine so just knock it off, will you. You want to make a better product, hire the experts and innovators to make that product one time and if there are additions, most people would be happy to upgrade to your next version, because they trust you are going to give them something that works from the door. And that **** is not Rocket Science.....and neither is Machine Software.

@b-righteous and @sowari apologies for the foul language.

This entire post betrays your ignorance to the electronics/tech industry, and how things are actually designed and manufactured. If you're interested to know, the primary reasons manufacturers are as slow as they are to adopt the latest and greatest ICs into their hardware designs it has to do with:
-The fact that it's rare for an equipment manufacturer to start a new product from scratch, they will typically reuse parts of existing designs that are proven to work. These designs are obviously based on existing or 'older' ICs.
-Brand new ICs have yet to be proven reliable, and even for a manufacturer to use one in an existing design it will still often require said design to go through all the reliability/failure testing that a completely new design has to go through. This costs lots of R&D $.
-The latest ICs cost more, and often only offer incremental improvements over the existing ICs in use.
-If a new IC requires programming/firmware, there is little guarantee existing code will run on it, and even if it does it won't make use of the latest functionality. Therefore more time and $ has to be spent writing code.
-Large manufactures often keep lots of stock on hand of components that they regularly use, this makes switching to a new IC again more expensive.
While the above list is far from complete, it should help provide some insight into how the world really works. The illuminati and/or the free masons aren't to blame here.

Oh ok I interpreted it more like a cocky look >.<
I am totally with you, I have a keyboard and 8 knobs on Maschine, couldn't care less about KK.
But again, I don't see any reason why and how this should be any hard to achieve

However, it really should be something of little effort, I swear to god the pattern repeat thing for example is something a primary student who learned his first 60 minutes of java could do!

@b-righteous: Mods, please suggest to N.I. to get rid of the Bad Spelling comment option. This is a forum. Correcting people's spelling is about as appropriate as correcting someone's vocabulary or grammar while they're in the middle of a casual conversation and using accepted slang and abbreviations. In other words, it brings nothing to the table; if anything it's just an annoying distraction (especially when it's abused as seen in a recent separate but slightly related thread), and says more about the poster than the person being corrected. After all, we're here to converse, not point fingers at someone's spelling or way of expressing themselves.

I understand your skepticism and share some of your concerns. He does say that he says what he says because he believes it, since N.I. doesn't pay him enough to make it up. He believes what he's saying and what he's seen. Just to clarify, are you suggesting N.I. is purposely misleading him so he will leak hype to the public to distract people from buying Akai gear?

Mr. 36: my feeling is you're just engaging in personal politics by rating my post as Bad Spelling...

I wonder if it's just a software update or a new controller with a software update? Because usually NI have a sale on the maschine controllers. For example I would have expected maschine studio prices to be slashed this month, but they didn't do it. So maybe 2.5 is with the current controllers, and maschine 3.0 gets a new controller? I have no idea.

Why the heck do people who never even post here mark a post as "bad spelling"?

Not all of us are natives (pun) and I suppose most of the foreigners here are German; everyone knows how we suck at English, no need to point that out - especially not to a company that's based in Germany lol
