    Hi all,

The issue i've come across is about the volume levels in traktor.

You have channel A at 100% volume and channel B at 100% volume. When i used to dj with decks and a mixer these two volumes would fade into one another without causing a peak in the middle. ie in the middle of the crossfader - channel A at 50% volume and channel B at 50% volume totaling 100% volume.

For some reason traktor seems to have both tracks at 100% in the middle of the crossfader - channel A at 100% volume and channel B at 100% volume totaling 200% volume. In fact when you record a mix and look at the graphic representaion in an audio editing software you can see peaks in the file during the mixes.

I never had this problem with a normal mixer. I'm sure its just some values in the midi settings, but i'm still havent got my head round midi mapping.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

if the crossfader is in the middle you have 100% of deck a + 100% deck b - that's at least what i have seen on EVERY hardware mixer i've come across during the last 10 years. and traktor is copying that exactly...

I'm sure you can set mine to dip in the middle.

I don't though, If I've got 2 tracks fully banging, with the crossfader in the middle and all eq's at 12 o'clock then I've messed up.

either i have explained myself very well or it depends on the type of mixers we have used. it all depends on the curve.

the problems i'm experiencing would dictact that the curve is similar to slow fade, slow cut, fast cut in the below image:-

i'd like a set up of intermediate or constant power. My VCi 100 is setup accordingly, so it must be a traktor setting.

for example this curve would probably mean in the middle channel A at 75% volume and channel B at 75% volume totaling 150% volume.

i dont want to have to faff with volume controls aswell as the crossfader.

yeah, traktors curve is definitely not a dipped one.
it can be made sharper or softer but it all meets with 100% A + 100% B in the middle.

    well thats a bit naff.

i would have thought for those who dont scratch and prefer progressional mixes at least there would be some way of dealing with this.

honestly, i've never seen it differently :)
utilizing the EQs for long mixes is absolutely suitable.

I've never used a mixer with a dipped curve. Correction, I've never used a CROSSFADER with a dipped curve. If I find one, I switch to the lines. Dipped curves don't work for me.

For my 2c worth I never use a crossfader. They almost always never work the way I do. Even when they have selectable curves. I bypass the crossfader and use the channel volumes and always get what I want. :)

    Feature Request

I'd love to see a dipped crossfader option. It's not an issue for me in external mode (I can just use the channel faders or the dipped crossfader on my mixer), however when your mixing internally (ie working on a set while on a plane) you can't use the channel faders as you only have one mouse :)

    Native Girl -

Rane, Allen Heath and Pioneer mixers all have curve selects including a dipped fader option.
