Cubase Drag and Drop Option

It would be a big assistance for daily work.
Cubase has no direct drag and drop option for Kontakt VSTi.

It would be possible, if we have a switch in kontakt 5 settings who converts the Cubase drag XML File with Samplelocations into the Filepoiter drop for Kontakt 5 .

Hoping for that implementation since Kontakt 2 .....

Discussed again and again. Wrote support and feature requests again and again. Neither NI nor Steinberg want to ease the workflow with their products.

I have Kontakt 5.01 and nothing again...
Steinberg doesn´t want to implement it, because they want to sell their flagship sampler Halion....

Really thought about dumping Kontakt and buying Halion. It's superb how you can slice samples in cubase and directly drag and drop them into Halion. A total timesaver!
I'm not sure, if that feature is 300 bucks worth, though ... So I'll most probably stick to Kontakt

 

It is possible to drag and drop from Cubase into Kontakt, you just need to make sure your file permissions are set correctly. If memory serves me right, you need to run cubase with admin privileges to allow drag and drop into Kontakt

 

No it is not possible! I ve set cubase to admin and file permissions are set correctly.
It isn´t possible right now Kontakt 5.0.3!

 

I've had drag and drop working for me here using cubase so it is possible. Search the forums, you will find others have been able to get it working too

 

Only Way is with the VST-XML Translator..... but it doesn´t by default.....

 

Are there any Cubase users who are using MachFive 2 or 3 and Cubase who can vouch that this is possible using the combination of the two? Like I stated in the other thread asking for this feature to be implemented in Pro Tools, MachFive is being advertised as being able to do this in DAWs which don't seem to be able to do so with Kontakt, including Cubase.

I have no plans to switch to MachFive 3 right away but hopefully NI can make this happen before people start to seriously consider it.

yeah, if they can't implement features to support major hosts like Cubase and Nuendo they should unlock their "Kontakt only" libraries for use in other samplers so it's possible to move on. No VST3, no drag and drop is seriously a disappointment.

I expected this since Kontakt 4, now in version 5, again nothing.

 

If it works for kb123, then it works, and you guys are doing something wrong.


D&D works over here with Reaper, too.

 

No Cubase won´t do Drag and Drop,I set the cubase with admin privileges.
There is no way.

Reaper is completely different because reaper sends filepointers of the Audiofiles at Drag and Drop to kontakt.

The most common mistake is not clicking on Kontakt to make it active before doing the drag and drop. As I say, there was a detailed discussion on it a while ago on the forums where people were adamant that drag and drop did not work and then they confirmed that it did - search the forum .. that's what its there for

But this only works for drag and drop of explorer into Kontakt VSTi in Cubase.
Last Post in your thread mentioned that.

So no drag and drop of Audio in Project window Cubase to Kontakt VSTi.
This is a workflow killer for years...!

 

To quote one of my posts in that thread "The UAC thing is really strange. To drag wav files in from a folder onto kontakt within cubase admin prviledges need to be off. To drag midi etc from vsts in/out to cubase admin priviledges need to be on. Seems crazy to me

edit: It may have something to do with where plugins are located, for example if they are in a sub directory of program files then admin privs are need to change them, if they are in a standard user folder these problems may not exist. "

 

I don´t have problems drag an drop file out of a folder of windows into kontakt VSTi inside of cubase.
I don´t have problems drag and drop midi files.

The thing that is not possible is to drag and drop audio files of cubase arrangement into kontakt vsti inside cubase.

The problem is that cubase sends an xml at drag and drop containing Information of loop points etc. and Konakt only accepts file pointers!
