I have been able to set up tractor with clock midi out to sync my music to q show + or my DMX or a drum machine. I would like to be able to automate my lightshow with midi out triggers. I would like to be able to do the following in tractor.

Set a Cue (non hot cue) to a specific number over 10 and label that Cue I would like a drop down dialog to change these on a fly to a track I am preparing. I would like to be able to label these cue points like for example verse 1 dramatic pause verse 2 refrain drum solo or even light show 1 light show 2 moving heads whatever I need to label them.

While the track is playing if the location passes a cue or a loop it a modifier would trigger say Modifier Cue event and the value would equal the number of the cue or cue label 1-30 or whatever the current limitation is. when this happens I would like to map it to type of control LED interaction output and send a led option thru midi or midi ox (3rd party freeware) at the other end would be qlight+ or mydmx or a drum machine which would make something happen like start a light show 1

    Example of functionality
    In qlight+ (3rd part software)
I would use midi ox to jump my midi port between traktor and qlight+
I would set up a trigger in qlight+ to tap every time it receives the time clock from tracktor
    (this already works)
I would set up my moving heads to strobe white on midi trigger C1 then them to black out on midi trigger C2 and turn all red and scan around on midi trigger C3
Then in tractor I would set up my midi out to send the clock of the bpm of the tract currently playing
I would load up a tract say paint it black by the rolling stones
at 10 seconds where the drums start up I would set cue C2 then set a cue point for C3 at 30 then c2 at 40 seconds then at the I want to see it paint black set it to C1 for a few seconds then C3 c2 c1 etc etc basically automating my light show with cue points that trigger my dmx lighting.

It also would be handy for musicians who use a mix of DAW drum machines and other equipment to integrate their gear together or even trigger video effects on programs like arkaos.

Supporting MIDI CUEs would be a great idea or even EVENT CUES.

They could be used to implement a 24/7 Dance Mix Radio Station Playout System with station ids etc launched through the MIDI CUEs. Instead of performing with traktor, we automate with traktor.

e.g. Deck 1 & Deck 2 for playing tracks running in the existing Cruise Control mode making use of the fade in and fade out cue points. A midi cue in a track could launch a midi mapping to press a slot on a remix deck of station ids / voice overs in say Deck 3, so that at marked times in the song a voiceover would play on top of the music

EVENT CUES would enable different types of events to be programmed
e.g. build in chance into whether or not to play a voiceover on deck 3 or deck 4.

Hi djmidnightwilde & thebigblaa I'm looking for the same solution, but for a slightly different reason. Did you find a solution for Traktor to sent out midi signal when it reaches certain cue points? If yes, would be great to share it! Thanks, Sam.

    Hi Sam,

I was hoping a reply to the post would result in an answer but unfortunately not.

@thebigblaa Too bad. I just received this answer on the same question at DJ Tech Tools forum:

Not possible. I asked about it a while ago.

You *could* bodge it by midi syncing Ableton + Traktor, and setting up dummy clips in Ableton that correspond with the tracks that you are playing in Traktor. But like I said - that's quite a big bodge, and would take a while to implement (but it WOULD work...)

    Hi Sam,

Yes agreed it would work but requires manual duplication of the timelines in both pieces of software.
I use Ableton already, but I think this approach would be for a single fixed playlist / timeline.

The reason I wanted the markers is because I like the idea of using a specialist piece of scheduling software (powergold) to create hourly playlists of tracks. Then Traktor can import these playlist, and playout the tracks as an automation system which will handle the syncing, so the tracks a mixed by the software in realtime.

I don't want to manually go at the timeline in order to playout the tracks. Just want to take advantage of Traktor's cruise control
