+1 for custom chord sets. The custom scales don't bother me nearly as much, as there are lots of options already. But the problem with chord sets is that each group of chords is someone from NI's preconception of which chords "go with" which other chords. This effectively locks me into certain intervals and transitions, and locks me OUT of many more. Without all those other "locked out" chords, I feel like many Maschine-created songs that attempt to use chord sets (as it stands) will end up sounding similar in some ways.

What if I want a jazzy sounding song that has lots of 9, 11, and 13 intervals? Or a sus4 on a chord that the NI guy decided to leave it out?

I feel like right now chord sets are nothing more than a toy for people who want "automatic songwriting mode". But if I could create my own custom chords for each new song project, that would make it a truly viable performance and songwriting aid.

After spending a couple of weeks playing around with the maschine chords sets I think custom chord sets is a fantastic idea.

yeah..its been years and i simply don't understand the laissez faire attitude over this.. its the ONLY way to effectively use 16 pads for keyboard parts without constant overdubbing.

I just discovered you can't use Scalar 2 with Maschine so I hope you either are planning on bringing your midi chord section (its currently really lame) up to that kind of standard or are going to allow plugins to send recordable midi out.

i think, if NI give us costume chords to pads that we will be in future now but they implemented clips wich is OK but not so nessery considering that ther is a workorund. being able to choose chords and map them to your taste will be revolution in workflow over every other platform, yet we are at the year 2015. supposed that we already have this implemented, now in present time we are all at higher level of production but it didnt happend so...its kind a stupid not to implement this basic feature and at the same time you have bunch of scales and chords in menu but im askig my self what is a purpose if we cant actually use it...it is stupid but i have to say that i love Maschine mk3 and i am gentle with encoders and making releases

+1ing this so it gets priority, chord sets was the selling point for me rly for maschine and is the main reason I am using maschine as a vst in another DAW, I am currently debating should I start using cthulhu and just use maschine as a regular midi controller which would be a shame, considering that adding custom chord sets seems like a trivial task and if marketed aggresively enough would push the sales through the roof. Hope NI is aware how important this feature is.

I agree with you but stay on Maschine only. It is beneficial for you and whole workflow and using the cthulhu isn't a smooth as it also have boudries in is own way. I hope that NI will give us costume Chords to Pads because this state now is stupid and almost pointless but we see potential for best improvement for us and product

It's so obvious that we need that kind of bonus but I'm thinking that it would be game changer bonus for entire Maschine and benefit for all of us and NI too

It would be great for all of us including NI as well to implement this feature so we can choose chodrs and link them to pads. This feature will be good for new users, for courent users for NI because it would make there's product more attractive to everyone, AKAI has it so why we don't have it? I hope that some one from NI will take a few minutes to think this through and get a vision that I have, it has great sounds, you can almost play without fear live and improvise more then just fx or triggering loops, it would make this Maschine HW along with software to higher level enabling more possibilities for Artists to express them selfs not just with sounds but with more interesting compositions and overall it would definitely hit the whole generation of Artists through all kinds of music genre. If that was implemented in 2017. now in 2020. Will be another story of much more developed community with more variation just like situation with sounds, we have maybe to many but it's OK better than not having them but tools like Costume Chords to Pads will be revolutionary I guarantee and even users with other priorities would be satisfied and occupied with this feature. That's it from me, I won't be suggesting this feature anymore, I don't wanna bother and I think that I explained all benefits... Thank you NI in advance.

    Hey Maschine users,
MUSICMANN here ... using chords for Neosoul composing ... custom chord sets would be a true production tool of great use ... not seeing this with Maschine 3. This feature would be completely useful and very powerful to have. Also, a way to string chords in play order like a step sequencer would be awesome as well.

+1 From me. Is it a really difficult thing to implement? What would be the reason for not putting this feature in especially since we have the chord sets thing already.

Still would love this feature implemented along with being able to import Audio to detect scales & chords. I do own Scaler 2 and think it is worth the money. You can use Blue Cats PatchWork which will enable use of Scaler in Maschine however both plugs will set you back a total of around $150. I would like to try and use my Maschine standalone however its still not feature rich enough for me and still gets used as a plugin.

    +1 for custom chord sets!

Yep maschine owner since 1 week now, and whould shurely like this option. Playing custom chords on the pads is just not feasible. When using Maschine+ in standalone, the mentioned chord packs like scaler (which i do own) does not work either. So this feature is a must for music production.

Just to follow up on this, if Maschine and M+ could receive midi input from plugins (specifically reaktor in the case of the M+) we could just assign chords or other midi notes, control changes, and program changes directly on the pads. Of course with a virtual midi port this is doable on a pc, but the M+ needs 2 way communication with Reaktor enabled. It would really allow for so many feature requests to be addressed by the community.
