When I turn D2 on - with or without USB connection - its screen stays on "Hold C & D buttons during startup for Vegas Mode" - and thats it. If I connect USB it stays that way ? What can I do before getting mad and returning it?

Did you see my reply in the other post?
Do you have Windows or Mac?
Did you try a different USB port?
Also try a different USB cable.
Not necessarily a more expensive one.

Does the D2 show up as in and outs for your controllers in preferences?
If it doesn't show up then maybe try importing the default mapping.
If it does and the input/output is working I'm not sure what to do next.
But have a look at my response to the other thread you posted in.

Here is something else I found.
Not necessarily for audio and midi controllers but USB issues in general.
Some reports of Fast Startup not loading USB drivers properly.

    Disable/Enable quick boot Windows 10

1 Type Control Panel in the search box.
    2 Click Control Panel.
    3 Type Power Options.
4 Click Choose what the power buttons do.
5 Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
6 Scroll down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
    Click Save changes.

I guess with Fast Startup enabled the computer never fully shuts down. And saves configuration files to speed up the Startup. Also a few different states of hibernation are used.
    Maybe worth a try.

Here is a link to a more detailed description and instructions...

I'm on Mac, tried your recommendations again (thank you by the way!), and haven't had any luck. One D2 out of my pair connects fine no problem. The USB hub on it works too, as I've been able to test other devices through it.

May require assistance from the support team as this thread explains the issues much better than the ticket I raised with them!

A troubleshooting trick I learned a long time ago is to try searching for a similar issue on the Internet.
Sometimes the forums or specific issue has been dealt with or you can find hints as to what might work.
So since I don't have a Mac I did a quick search for Audio devices and Mac Usb issues here is something that looked interesting...

    https://support.novationmusic.com/h...19-My-USB-MIDI-Device-isn-t-working-on-my-Mac

This may have been something you already tried. But of course it is new to me since I don't own a Mac.
If you keep having issues with a Usb port it still might very well be a problem with NI and not a computer issue.
But so far every single one of my issues besides Usb 3.0 (which was fixed in an update) has been a fix I found and many times by looking outside of this forum and no help from support.

If Support is not getting back to you, I would try searching for similar issues with usb controllers and other softwares. Maybe something will work. Sorry I can't help more.
