    Hey guys,

I currently use a Pioneer DJM-T1 with F1 for scratch pro 2. The T1, which effectively has a built in X1, is a loaner so I was planning on buying a X1 or two and A10.
I prefer to use three or four track decks with C and D synced, rather than two of each (atm use a BCR-2000 to roughly emulate another X1).

With the price drop on the D2 I am very tempted to grab one. I have a couple of questions about using it in a mixed mode setup D2 + X1 (or the T1).

I've watched videos on the S8 which indicates that when you are using browse on one side and start using browse on the other side the browse window closes on the first side. This makes sense as there's only one browser in Traktor, and it is essentially being mirrored.

I have RTFM and also the forums and understand the D2 operates AC or BD at any one time (with shift + deck for switching) and want to be able to use the D2 to view the browser and select a track on intuitively on the X1 without having to do the shift + deck switching.

What I want to know is if you use browse on the X1 (assigned to different channels), will the window pop up on the D2?

Secondly, what are your views on the price drop? Is it a way to get people using stems (right now I only own two stems tracks, sfa releases) or is it indicative of a coming revised hardware release?

And finally have any of you got a response to whether in the future, the D2 will be able to control AB or CD?

Well, I just tried with my Z2's browse knob and it didn't have that effect on either of the D2s I have, so I'd say it wouldn't work with the X1 Mk2. I'll plug mine in to confirm this next time I'm using Traktor, but I'd say it'd be the same result.

I'd say the initial price was a bit steep ($AU699 is not kind on the wallet, versus $399 for the sale price which is more amenable) and this is an experiment to see if there will be a marked increase in sales, particularly for the S5 which seems to have not have taken off to the same extent as the S4. I've considered the S5 for portable use, but a bit undecided if I will even get one or not, particularly as I already use a Z2 mixer and now have two D2s, and usually use my X1 Mk2 with an Audio 2 DJ soundcard to plug into another mixer. I'd also say it's an attempt to try and push Stems, though more as a secondary objective.

Finally, you can control decks A and B on the same D2, you just save to hold down the Deck button and manually choose between A and B, instead of just tapping it to switch between A/C and B/D as per the standard arrangement. Perhaps eventually, there will an option added in settings to toggle between A/C + B/D and A/B + C/D.

Thanks for the response. That is a bit of a shame regarding the browse window.

for $699 aud and no audio interface it was no chance at all compared to the X1 for my mixing. It's still a tough call to make. For example I would like a relative/absolute function (without having to go to midi) for scratch, an option for more loop pads (or second deck loop pads) instead of beatjump, FX unit assignment flexibility (the screens would really come in handy as I don't have the laptop real estate to show the fx units), and the ability to delete sample cells. I'm sure there's a way to edit remix cell size like you can on the F1, I just may have missed it.

I'm going to play with one today and see how I like it.

I agree that at the old price the S5 wasn't appealing. But it is rather nice at the new price. In fact a friend who wants a controller with interface for just casual mixing fun is ready to go get one. A cut down D1 based on the S5 would be perfect for me. Even better would be a X1 with the display and associated buttons.
