For the D2 owners who don't use Remix Decks or STEMs, how do you feel about the workflow enhancements it offers?
I thinking of picking up a single D2 to add to my S4 and giving it a test drive, if I like it I'll add a second one.

I use 4 Decks and I was ready to jump on the S8 and give up my jog wheels just yet but this would give me some real world aspect on the difference in workflow.

Anybody know any obvious drawbacks or pitfalls?

It does take time to get use to, there are times I do miss the jogwheels, but that depends on what I'm playing. I felt if I was able to DJ with the X1s, the D2s (and S8) are even better, because of the enhancements. Though it would be interesting, if functions were added to the four faders and buttons (under the screens) that aren't used during normal track playback.

Well so far the D2 has worked well with my S4, have to say I am really enjoying.
Will say that the one drawback of it to me would be they put too much focus on STEMs and ReMix Decks.
Native Instruments still seems intent on making them work without looking more into why people aren't embracing them.

Still I can't deny I like what can be done with the D2 and will be adding a second one to my S4 setup.

I was also happy that adding the D2 didn't seem to have any negative impact on my system performance or stability.

Love the D2. At first I was like no jog wheels. Spent 45 min a guitar center on it, and was sold. It's very fun to use. Takes your mixing creativity to the next level. NI just make stuff fun and inspiring!

The product is amazing after 2 months using it.But the focus in remix decks i think is a negative for such a quality product.i would like to see more versatily.the performance knobs should be more creative.

I was sold on the D2's before I even tried them out because of what I wanted my workflow to be. Since they are exactly like an S8 deck, I integrated 2 D2's in my workflow and don't want to look back. Always on 4 decks when mixing house type genres.

With just the S8, I found myself sometimes pressing the wrong button on the wrong deck and getting frustrated. the D2's took that away as soon as I plugged em in and played. Be aware that you may need F1's to make things flow better.

Also, I've found myself using my 2 F1's to enhance my workflow.

The thing with NI in general maschine jam, studio, D2. They make stuff that's fun to make music with.

Personally I can't stand Maschine and only connect mine when a new update adds something dramatic just to see what it's about.
Just too many things about the overall Maschine workflow comes off as unappealing to me or poorly implemented.
Really a shame that after years of Maschine we still have many of the inherent shortfalls from when it was first released.

Love Komplete and Traktor but could easily hit the undo button for ever buying into Maschine.

I would have to say that NI needs to change the Maschine focus to the software instead of the hardware.
We are now up to 4 variants of the hardware without many of the needed refinements being adding to the software.

Added my second D2 so currently I am running the S4 and 2 D2s.
    It's a pretty comfortable workflow.:)

I do use Stems and Remix Decks, but a lot of my library is regular songs. The workflow of D2s, with turntables next to them, and a Z2 mixer, is perfect for me, and I only need to touch the laptop to search for a song.
