Hi Guys, just wondering if there is anyway of keeping the date format, after traktor analyses the files to just the year?
currently i get 2011-0101 for a 2011 track. This gets on my nerves.
I use traktor for music only sets/gigs, and serato for my video gigs, but i do drop the odd 1 or 2 music files but it always comes up with the above date format.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    It just really bugs me.
I dont normally use the date, but i have started doing a 80's themed bar, and now i've enabled the year in my library window, im getting sick of looking at XXXX-01-01.
There must be some way of limiting the numbers.

Fair enough using it for 'imported date' if people use that. but not for the general year.

Make the column more narrow until all you see is the year.

Thats fine, but doesnt help me when im using other programs.
Why should i have to do this?

There must be a way of changing date format?

Bump! This behaviour is meaningless, and should be changed A.S.A.P. Every time I've used a track in Traktor, I get a new entry in the date column in MediaMonkey.

    Any news on this?

I absolutely hate the feature in Traktor which updates ID3 tags automatically.

My only way around is to make all my mp3s read only, but this doesn't allow for cue point saving etc.

Other programs like mixmeister create separate files in a chosen foler on your PC which stores all the id3 tag/bpm/cue info which would be so handy in Traktor.

Please fix this issue in your next update NI

Yeah not too happy if you are like me and have spent the last 17 years ensuring your 7000+ tracks are categorically ordered just how you want them and are all set in a perfect order of date modified. like sorting your record collection from oldest to newest. and then traktor comes along and starts screwing it all up without your consent! come on!

    :(

Since i posted this, i've slowly started to move away from traktor, as its now bugging the hell out of me.

I'm now using serato more and more for my sets.
But the bars i'm now working in, one of them is a 80's bar and another is a general bar playing all different types of music, so i dont need to 'mix' as much so serato suits me fine.

I do like traktor, and i do like using the likes of the X1 controller with it, some of the functions are better on traktor than serato. But as ever its normally the small things which please people the most.
NI please fix this annoying little problem.

these is one solution for that until now, use the windows folders (there you can sort everything) and ''drug and drop'' in the decks.
I dont suggest it for windows users, but for mac its more safe.
I think that NI knows that problem.

Mixmeister pro is a program i used to use for mixing by looking at the track and dragging the automation. They use MXM files which are the plot files that MixMeister creates for each music file and you can store in a seperate folder on your computer. You an eve n choose to enable or disable the creation of them.

Its a very simple and smart thing to do.

    Please NI! Its easy programming

I'm in the same situation - i was not happy Traktor was deleting info such as artist and album info from my folders so i have changed them to 'read only'. This appears to have stopped Traktor altering anything. I am basically a wedding dj so not interested in all of the effects Traktor offers. With locked files Traktor can still work out the bpm and volume levelling which is fine with me, however they really should sort this.

This happens to me as well
Another issue that appears with this behaviour is this :
I use a backup program to copy new or changed audio files to another drive (not compressed) so as to have them ready for use.
So everytime i try to sync files those files appear to be changed and then copied on top, making the volume of data tranfered more.
I hope someone looks at it.

I have posted this again in http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showpost.php?p=936268&postcount=6

has anybody written to the support?

also, this would not be a bug fix but rather a design change. not sure if everybody would be so happy with it.
anyways, a change is not to expect soon.
