DDJ-SX / DDJ-TX for Traktor?

Hello everyone,

I'm interested in buying the DDJ-SX, but before i spend 1000€ for this hardware piece, i would to ask a few questions.

During summer, i did my last research about it and besides the "it's workin' m8" comments, there were very few reviews about DDJ-SX and traktor. There were complains about Jogwheel-Delays (so it's pretty much useless for scratching) or not working/missing funtions (e.g. slicer) and more. After that, i actually didnt really do anything after that, since my Behringer BCD3000 was still working, but since weeks it isnt.

I do know JaJa's Mapping, but do all functions work with it nicely in Traktor 2.x.x?

Or shall i wait for an incoming (?) DDJ-TX? i talked to one trusted pioneer dealer and manager, and they told me probably oming out this or early next year, even though, no official release dates/infos about it yet.

Pioneer has up until now never officially stated that a TX will be released.

Anwyays...almost all functions and more work with JaJa's mapping with the SX and Traktor.
You will find a english manual explaining all functionalities if you download JaJa's mapping file from the DJTT site, plus we are currently working on more features.

So more to come in regular updates of this mapping...!

 

I finished reading manual but could not find information about a jogwheel delay fix.
Has this been fixed, so scratching is possible with newest version of mapping?

Would be great to get more opinions on mapping aswell, cheers

 

My thought on the Pio TX is that if i was going to be released it would have been out by now. I was waiting for but gave up and opted for the new S4.

I believe denon could be releasing some new controller soon hopefully it will up the game. I also have CDJ2KN.. with traktor the work flawlessly. Juliao what type of problems have you seen? I have not upgraded my firmware. Not sure if it will make any difference since i onl use it with tractor

 

Very Strange.. I also never mentioned problems with my CDJ2KN and Traktor.. Since using this combination it works 100% stable and reliable.

I agree that Pioneer had trouble with the first Firmware Versions and Freezes on their Nexus CDJs. But! The Firmware Bugs that where fixed by Pioneer where 99.9% related to freezing problems and browsing delays while using SD-Cards, USB Sticks, External HDDs or while working in ProDJ Link Mode. Maybe i missed something but i never mentioned any CDJ Nexus FW Upgrade that fixed HID Bugs or problems while working with Traktor.

 

Checked their forums last week, didnt found any major things with ddj-sx so i think its ok

Why would i love to have DDJ-SX? Best quality compared to others and i rather spend a few bucks more to have actual jogwheels and not some plastic ones again like its on Traktors own controller (Behringer BCD3000 had similar ones and i couldnt do anything good with them... never ever plastic again). Similar 4deck controllers like from Numark run with Serato aswell.

Since majority didnt mentioned jogwheel lags lately: Is it fixed? Scratching possible?

 

You will need to use Serato DJ to have any hope of scratching with the SX. Either start using SDJ, or pick up an S2/4 if you want to scratch on a controller with Traktor.

 

If u don't like plastics, check out the Numark 4Trak, it's great!

 

i'm actually mapping the ddj sx for traktor since the mapper i've seen is too fat and use modifiers in a exotic way (using the fat squeezing multiple state into one modifier tips http://www.traktorbible.com/en/squeezing-modifiers.aspx) and traktor don't like that so much. It takes more than a minute for load/modify the settings!!!.
Since the shift button and the pad selector already offer different CC/note to the buttons, i can't see the reason to use all of that modifiers/duplicated functions. I'm building a thin mapper made by 4 different light maps for each deck (device target has been implemented for a reason!!) and one for all common feature (browser and fx unit). It's almost finished. I'm working in the slicer function too. I've been able to let the led blink following the 8 bars but i'm waiting NI for the new update (hoping they will add some functions i asked and need for make the same serato slicer function available for pioneer and other controllers in traktor. About the jogwheel, yes, resolution is worst than S4 jogwheel because there is no hid integration with traktor but i always think that timecode vinyl and real turntables offer better performance than everything for turntabilism use

Too complex IMHO, just that...and some functions are not mapped in the way i wish (and some other friends). One example? Loop section. I don't want to make a kind of battle...just givin the opportunity to choose

 

Traktor now support slicer function. I can now (after one year) finish to make a stable a complete mapping for ddjsx
