Still don't understand the implications of all this, but if you read Thomas Martin's response to the following thread, I think the current situation is that the purchaser of your NI products can just go ahead and activate them, though I think maybe it's always been the case that NI have to be informed about the sale so they can change the 'ownership' of the serial numbers - probably best to call NI in Germany on Monday, though I know that's a hassle, but they've always been very helpful and quick to respond to problems whenever I've done that.

On the site, 'Support>Manage Registrations/Activations>View Your Registrations' also now has a paragraph about this, though somewhat cryptic.

Yup, this was just the other day. Can't imagine that NI are doing away with the check on registrations forever, they must be revamping the way they go about it - let's hope this means changes for the better, rather than more hassle for us ! ;)

If it were me think I'd email the buyer a brief explanation with links to this thread and the one I mentioned before - I'm completely sure that NI will facilitate change of ownership speedily, what ever may be required, they do of course know this situation crops up regularly.

And with regards to phoning, yeah it costs, I've just done it in the past to get a quick response, but you can of course contact them free via the site; for registration issues:

I've used the webform route in the past as well, in my case with reasonably quick response time, but I've seen others complain that support requests from the site have been left unanswered for some time, guess it depends on NI's current workload and how easy the problem is to solve.
