im building this simple ensemble.. while doing my very first learning steps in reaktor. i've just added Chet Singer's wonderful poly portamento and it's slowly becoming a CPU hunt :) im obviously hooking things not too smart and wonder if someone could take a look at it and tell me what am i doing there wrong.

you can d/l the ensemble here

thanks a lot for the help!

you could make everything in the FX chain Mono, but i am not sure that would reduce the CPU too much on this occasion.

both the Filterbank and the SpaceMaster use a lot of CPU, but that is because they are good. you could try to use a reverb with less quality.

with your synth, you could just have 1 filter for both oscillators... use a simple mixer (2 in 1 out) going into that 1 filter. that would save you a bit. but then your 2 oscillators, 2 adsrs 2 filters seems important to your concept... and it won't make all that much difference.

you need to ask your self is the Filterbank important enough for the sound, as it does use a lot of CPU.

    hey sowari -
i see.. i dont know why i got the impression that the big CPU leap was from the synth.

thanks for taking a look at it!

did you know you could check how much CPU is being used?

check Measure CPU Usage see Pic.

that will tell you how each instrument/macro/Module is eating up the CPU. your synth actually does not eat up much... it is the Filter and Reverb that do ;)
