Very simple request which would help a whole lot - When a track is loaded into a deck, that deck becomes the focus deck. Yes, I'm aware I can do this through hotkeys but I use scratch control for my decks and use track 3 on my timecoded cds to load tracks. This is very helpful when you want to add an effect or loop quickly, and I often find myself effecting the wrong deck because i am mentally focused on the freshly loaded track. I'm sure this would be quite helpful to others as well, and at the very least I think it should be included as an option in preferences. cheers!

actually this happened in like you describe in previous versions.

once again, an arbitrary change in the workflow, without an explanation...

Word. This has caused me much frustration.

Who was the jokester in the meeting that suggested that this should change?

Also, now you can't even assign an individual deck to a contol/hotkey. Useful for so many macros.

Sure you can, i assigned deck focus to keyboard keys a,b,c,d to represent each deck. i press "a" traktor focuses on deck a, etc.

But this method is very annoying and very pointless to do every time you load a track.

BRING BACK DECK-LOAD AUTO FOCUS PLEEEEAASSEEE! (or at least make it an option in preferences) ;)

    Yes, bring it back

+1, very frustrating - one of the reasons I'm back on 3.4

I was about to post a thread about this, but I found out that if you drop the track in the upper part of the deck, where you can see the track name on each deck, you will get automatic focus. But if you drop it in the waveform-area, it will load without taking focus.

Hmm, very interestng & thanks for the input, Ill have to try this out. However this still doesnt help out us scratch users who use track 3 (or vinyl) to load tracks. I just wish that this was a standard feature. Cant seem how this is useful or intuitive.

anyways I wrote about this in On The Record and Friedemann said this was to be included in an upcoming update. hope it's soon!

This is another "feature" (from T3 !) that I'm waiting for before I upgrade.

Toni if you read the original post the thread starter realises that you can set a Hot Hey for 'Deck Focus'.

In Traktor 3 if you drag and drop a track onto a player it makes that Deck the Focus deck.
This 'drag and drop focus' isnt employed in TSP and so the Focus issue is not resolved.

According to the 10th On the Record Session -

In the 4th On the Record, you stated that an auto deck-focus mode would be implemented in TSP "in of the next updates." Realistically, when can we expect this feature?

We looked into this some more and found it to be a rather specific use case, because deck-focus is mostly only relevant for functions that you trigger via hotkeys or MIDI controls, which you could also easily use to set the deck focus.

It's still on our feature request list, but at the moment we have a number of other requests that are much more popular and will likely be implemented first.

I can't say I agree with this response 100%. Most importantly I would like this feature for looping with my keyboard. If I want to enter a sudden loop I had not planned on then I still have to set the deck focus first if that deck is not active. And nine times out of ten, I am trying to loop the newly loaded track. If it's not active than I will wind up looping the wrong deck potentially ruining my mix.

"...deck-focus is mostly only relevant for functions that you trigger via hotkeys or MIDI controls, which you could also easily use to set the deck focus."

Yes, but going by this logic, I need to have a seperate set of hotkeys mapped to loop controls for each deck in order to achieve what I am trying to do here. I have all my loops mapped out logically according to the number row on my keyboard to control the "active deck." I dont have enough number keys to do this for 4 decks!

So for us that use Scratch control without comprehensive MIDI controllers, we still have to go the extra step to select our active deck before we trigger such an action. (Whether it's a loop, FX, whatever...)

I understand this feature request is really a lot more convienent for us that use TSP. (I use track 3 on CDs to load tracks.) However, even those that use MIDI controls focused on the "active deck" would surely appreciate this too.

Am I just being whiney and impatient here or do others find this a major workflow flaw as well?
