Deck Layout

I have seen a few YouTube videos of DJ's using all 4 decks in Traktor but at the same time also have a much larger browser display. When I activate all 4 decks the browser is really small under the decks. Does anyone know how to make it larger? In case my question is unclear, here is a video describing what I am talking about. Look at the laptop to his right.

i assume you dont mean usign teh browser button?

if not, you can change your preferences to alter the size of the deck windows..makes them shorter

 

No not using the browser button, just having a larger view when using all 4 decks. How do you alter the size of the windows? thanks.

 

First off you can adjust settings in the "Deck Layout" section and "Browser Details" section.

 

I've played around with both of those, maybe not properly however. Do you know what specific setting would let me do this?

 

Okay what screen size you using and what screen size did you see in youtube?

In the "Browser Details" section untick some of the things you won't really need (eg preview player and favourites or even the status bar)

You can get rid of the effects section too if not really needed (in "Global Settings).

Decrease font size as well.

Increase your resolution in "Global Settings" if possible.

 

I use a 13 inch Mac. I unticked the things you suggested and decreased font size but it really made no difference and I do need the effects section. Increasing the resolution only distorted the screen. Maybe you need to have a larger screen to do what I want? Thanks for the tips.

 

Yes 13" screen is small. I use a 17" laptop and I still find that small so I got a 2nd screen (21.5") and might go and get a 24".

 

do not stop at go, do not collect $200, go straight to 24"..

 

13" is def your problem. I got the 15" with Hi-Res upgrade for exactly this reason.

 

In the meantime, map a key to toggle giving you a browser-only view. That way the browser takes up the whole window.

 

Get an X1 - problem solved

Get yourself an X1 ad then:-

Just simply press the "shift" button and then press the browser scroll button and it opens up the full screen as a browser window.

Repeat to close back down to your 4 deck view

 

I meant the whole screen.

Which scroll button? I tried (with shift) the vertical scroll bar, the up arrow on the vertical scroll and the down arrow. Cannot reproduce the behaviour you describe.

 

besides the fact the x1 is a nice controller - he doesnt need it to get the "browser only toggle" button. you can map that to a keyboard key as well.

 

spacebar on mac or windows brings up the browser

 

I pretty sure the default keyboard map already has "browser only toggle" mapped. I think it is the space bar.

 

I use a 17" laptop in a club or if its my own rig a 21" monitor, which when it needs replacing would use an even large screen

Press the shift button which sits in the middle of the 2 browse-load-seek-view toggles. While shift is pressed, the press down on one of the toggles and this should open up your tracks in full screen mode.

 

thank you for bringing the standard up (i have it mapped by myself differently, so i hadnt the standard keyboard mapping handy).
