The button that toggles which track you are listening to in your headphones should NEVER have the ability to also LOAD a track. There is already a dedicated load button.

I know you can set it up so that you can't load a track into a playing deck, but that also has a problem, because I often enter browse mode with a loop or a track playing after I have already faded that deck out. I then try to load the next track into the deck, but I can't, but I also can't stop the deck unless I get out of browse mode because the PLAY buttons are disabled in browse mode.

My second suggestion is that the PLAY buttons should always work, in or out of browse mode. They don't currently work in browse mode.

I agree a better browser or some type of change here would be nice. But I cant really think of an answer for it all.

I am so used to drag/drop for computer use in general. I actually prefer skipping the whole browser button. But I like using it with the f1?

I think there is some simplicity missing for browsing and loading.
But then again I also think it may be due to lack of space.

The best solution would be a second monitor or tablet just for tracks.
Something much like having "real" crates.

But then again adapt as you will. I think it will all be ok.

A Simpler Solution Suggestion for More Possbilities

Currently on Traktor 2.6, browse only mode value cannot be used as a modifier. If browse only mode modifier gets added to controller manager then we can use it to modify any button that doesn't do any job on browse mode to do something else, without affecting it's original mapping and without overriding factory mapping.

But browse mode modifier should indicate controllers browse mode, because if you take Traktor to browse mode on software it doesn't have any effect on S4, or it's functioning.

Also, as of Traktor 2.6 you can override factory mapping for selected amount of controls. Which means you can simply remap the mixer CUE's and they will always work as CUE button regardless of browse mode state.
