    Hello

I have built a slightly strange wave table synth in Reaktor 5.1.2 and cant get the ADSR to work.

I believe the problem lies with Polophony issues and too many audio converter modules however when removed the whole synth stops working.

Its for a Uni assignment and has even some of my lecturers stuck!

In particular the R does not work and osc dies when MIDI information stops.

If anyone thinks they can help it would be wicked although you would need the latest version of Reaktor to open.

Would be amazing if someone could help me fix : )

    All the best

to get the attack of the ADSR to work, along with decay and sustain, you need to change it to mono, as its after the voice combiners.

to get release, you need a constant into the A of your ramp oscillators, as when you take your finger off the note, the gate stops, and so the rise of the ramp is nothing. try just connecting 'scan' to the A input and work from there. that does mean that the mixers show constant levels, which would mean rearranging the mixer till after the ADSR, or, easier, giving the wavetables separate ADSR's. before the mixer. (these would be polyphonic though, unlike the monophonic ADSR you need as the structure is at the moment.)

what uni are you at? im also doing a degree involving reaktor and max/msp.
    hope all this helps

hi Desperate Student, the problem is with the mixer... it is monophonic.
at the moment the signal going into it is plyphonic. this is causing a red cross. see picture.

if you add voice combiners to the signals before the mixer, it will cure the problem. see picture

i am also interested in which unis you guys are attending.

Well, I can't speak for these students. However, I teach Reaktor at the University of Surrey in Guildford (also have done some guest teaching at Royal Holloway, part of the University of London). The degree course I look after specialises in music and sound design, including some heavy duty synthesis. I don't recognise these ensembles so I don't think they're Surrey students.

<rant>I, too, would be interested to know who else was using Reaktor in anger as a teaching tool, not least because of trying to get decent support for lab setup, multiple licences and a decent pricing structure.
    </rant> ;o)

BTW, Reaktor is my desert island software. If I had to throw everything else away bar one piece of software, Reaktor is the one I'd keep.

    ;-)

yes compared to Ableton, NI have been a bit slow with this but they have just started this:-

    http://www.native-instruments.com:80/index.php?id=edu_us&ftu=edcb060f5b6493b

it look as though they want education establishments to buy the whole Komplete package, although reading between the lines i think it is also possible to just have Reaktor.

i have taught sound design at UEL and will be teaching Music/Collab/Improv there this semester. i did enquire about some licences and the price structure was much more expensive than Ableton, for Live.

Reaktor is also my desert island software.

    Thanks for the link, Sowari.

Our main labs (50 Reaktor seats) are still on Reaktor 4 - though I'm a happy 5 user myself. So, I contacted NI last week about upgrade pricing and they said to hold fire for a couple of weeks because they were introducing a new Edu pricing structure for Reaktor. Hopefully that will sort out a few things though installing 50 copies individually and entering licence numbers is not my idea of fun...

and using the Service Centre on 50 computers will be fun (sic). in case you don't know, registration is completely different these days.
