'deus ex maschine' - the ultimate Traktor Pro 2 mapping for Maschine

i'm wondering how you figured out the sysex string to put text on the display. i'm playing around with this, and i've managed to get text on the displays from ableton live (using liveapi). however, i'd like to put text on the button and knob labels as well. maschine does it, so it must be possible, but unfortunately i'm unable to sniff the output with midi monitor. sniffing input works, so i'm concerned maschine might not be using midi/sysex at all to send control to the device.
