SLICE AND REPAIR IF REQUIRED - not difficult. Maschine is plenty capable.

if this insightful answer doesnt help you at all (....yes iam being sarcastic)

look into one of the 3rd party time stretch work arounds, until NI delivers. you can find them on youtube or discussed in these forums.

OP - make the chops/slices smaller with the "apply to" option, this will give you more room for manipulation of tempo - you may have to use more than 1 group depending on the size of the sample, each "apply to" gets sent to a different group I assume you know that.

@encdee - the answer may not be as insightful as you would like but it is pretty much bang on the money - they are the only 2 instructions required to complete the task in Maschine.

i notice your post was much more specific about what to use and how to use it - bravo.

I use this method a lot. In fact I chop almost everything up into individual pieces so I can play with the tempos. But still this only adresses half the problem. If the source has layered sounds or some ambient background, etc. your individual chops will end up sounding jerky (which isnt always bad, no doubt). attack and decay can help to smooth out the sounds and make them sound a little more natural but that largely depends on what the original samples sound is. Still this process isnt interchangeable with timestretch. In other words, you wont get the same sounding result.

admittedly lack of functionality can force creativity, but the other side of that is the presence of functionality (i.e timestretch) also facilitates creativity.

I guess the bottom line is timestretch is important and i dont think anyone should to try and explain it away. were all waiting patiently in the meantime...
