Digital performer and Rig Kontrol 2

I am a newbie and have gone through the manual which isn't very helpful. I was wondering if any one has got a kontrol 2 working with Digital performer DP5.12 ? I can't seem to get a signal to a DP record enabled track with GR2 or GR3. Works in standalone GR with Kontrol 2. Even going direct to my motu 2408mk3 analog in and PCI 424 card I can't get a live signal .I have tried audio patch thru both off and on settings. Inserts fine on the track after the gtr is recorded. Any help would be appreciated.

My problem isn't really using automation. I can't seem to get an audio signal from my guitar going into Rig kontrol 2 pedal then into DP via my Motu 2408 interface and into an enabled audio track with GR2 or GR3.
Any suggestions?

The RK is an interface. You don't want to plug the outs of that into your MOTU...

Ok I think I got it working now. I got GR2 to work in in Dp but had trouble getting GR3 to to work with the kontrol 2 pedal until I messed with the the assigns a bit since it defaulted to the Rig kontrol 3 pedal. As far as latency I guess that is dependant on the buffer setting in DP like other VIs the lower the better correct ?
