I have the Full version (2.0) which I installed today , but am having a "blonde" moment.:)
Im not a Kontakt 3 expert , but I cant find any of the keyswitched stuff. Is it set up already , or do we have to set it up manually?
I hear the main samples, and alternative one shot sampleslike tuning etc in a lower octave, but Im just not getting the keyswitches for the main sample range.
    Im sure its something simple...

Ive looked in the Group editor, and see all the sounds there, which seem to be assigned to group starts on key, but nothing happens when I press that key...should they be red on the keyboard when its a keyswitch? I have nothing showing on those notes.
    Hope all that makes sense!
Any help would be much appreciated!

    Cheers

Key switchings are in the octave before the first note E1.

If you look at the Kontakt 2 ( I think in kontakt 3 there are not red key) Keyboard you can see that there is a part of the keys on the left in red. Those keys are the key switchings.

    How to use them?

The key C1 is the default key switch. It means that if you click on it the guitar plays just clean notes without any particular articulation.
If you press for exemple the key D flat 1 the guitar plays clean notes until you reach the velocity 127. So, you must press strongly on the keys to hear any articulation. All the articulations depend on key velocity to allow for combined playing. This system allows you to play straight passages with certain articulations being introduced with harder velocities. At low velocities you are able to changes key switches without affecting what you are playing.
If you have a 76 keys master keyboard you are able to use all the articulations without using the octave transpose. From B0 till E flat 1 the guitar has the key switching plus some strum noises.

Just out curiosity what key board do you use. I plan on replacing my m-audio axiom 49 with a better board. The velocity control on it is terrible.

I use a CME UF7 but I'm not satisfied. I'm waiting for new master Keyboards from YAMAHA, I heard that they are going to release masters in summer.
If it's not true I'll buy a YAMAHA MOTIF 7 to use it as a Master. I love the action of the keys of Motif.

Ok got it now I think..so the keyswiches start at c1 and go to
Eb 1, (there are only 4 keyswitches ?) . Where are things like harmonics etc? are they only on certain patches?
I know you are in the middle of doing the manual - Im sure it will all become clear when I see that ! :)

Thanks for your help so far, and a great sounding product

Juno G? If I'm not wrong Juno G has just 5 octave, is in it?

In these days it's better to have a 6 or 7 octave master especially with big sample libraries that use key switches.

    Bill,

most of the DirectGuitar patches have almost 10 Key swt.
The key C1 is the default key switch this value specifies the default switch that will be active right after the Instrument has been loaded. If you click C1 it allows you to play clean samples without any particular articulation.
It doesn't mean that the key switches start from C1.

So you are recommending any with at least a 76 key set up. Then the $1,000.00 bonus question would be is it better to have a full weighted hammer action as appose to a pure synth keyboard with no action and is velocity sensitive and such. Or wont it make any difference. Right now I'm trying to replace my axiom 49 with something considerably better but keep under a grand in cost.

You can think for exemple about a second hand Yamaha or Roland keyboard.
Something not more than 5 years old.

Ok. I'll tell you my personal experience that probably doesn't have nothing to do with other people experiences.

I've bought CME UF7 in April 2006. After one month I've lost all the printing on the panel. It has happened because I have the CME installed in my desktop and when I use the mouse of the computer I always touch the CME with the right harm.
Before the CME I have had a Roland XP50 installed in my desktop same as CME. I used it for 10 years and the printing are still there.
Then my CME had lost part of the back panel painting.

Some of the black keys have velocity problem. Mechanically they are ok, I think that they have electronic problems.

Sometime I must turn it off to reset it because it doesn't transmit any midi signal to my computer.

The tech. support doesn't work well. I've talked about this problem to the CEO of the CME in China, He has promised to me to help me to get a new CME. After one year I never had any answer to my emails from the CME.

I don't know, probably other people here are satisfied about CME masters but for me that was my first and it is my last experience with CME.

Enough said. Poor customer service alone is the deal breaker.

    Thanks

Ditto on the CME stuff. I unfortunately got burned on buying UF80 controller, which failed after only a week of use. They replaced it with a new unit, and it did the same thing. I got my money back, but I will never buy anything CME again. It looks great and feels great, but every software aspect about the product is unreliable (bad firmware updates in particular). Just check out their user forum and you can see where so many people have experienced a wide range of problems.

I vowed never to leave the yamaha/roland realm again.

Yea after spending more time and trips to GC I decided on the novation remote 61 sl. It doesent have as many keys as I would like but the thing is awsume. the keys are great and the automap is a plus. After contackting their tech support about a few things (2 thumbs up for cs) they will be realeasing an update that will alow me to use the remote zero at the same time with the automap.
