I have two rows of lights in four columns

    1 2 3 4
    2 3 4 5

triggered by midi (e.g. 1 = midi note no. 1; 2 = midi note no. 2.; etc.) on the same channel. How do I get the lights 1 & 2 in the first column to light without triggering the 2 in the second column and so on bearing in mind that I also wish each light in the top row to respond to their trigger?
What I want to do is a bit more complicated but this the basic prob.
I reckon there must be a simplish way of doing this but I haven’t as yet found it. I’ve probably missed something. So I hope someone here can help me?
    Cheers

i think you may need to provide some more details.
what are the four rows used for?
    would rows 3 & 4 look like:
    3456
    4567 ?
    etc.
i just can't really make sense of what you would like it to do,
but i would like to help if i could.

    thanks for the reply kim
probably i wasn't too clear. what i'm trying to do is get combinations of notes, chords, to come up on a display.
perhaps if i use actual notes as an example.
F G A B are the notes on one string
C E F G are the notes on the lower string, (ok it's a weird guitar)
i want to be able to show where two note chords must be played.
if i send a midi instruction to play notes G and E together there are three lights that will come on but i only want the G and The E in the second column to light up together and not the G in the last column, the G in the last column should omly light up if it is combined with the note B on the top row. the idea is that the notes F G A B in the top row, and the C and the E in the other row light up when sent their respective midi note number but that the two doubled notes, the F and the G in the lower row only come on when combined with the notes A and B in the top row.
i'm not sure if this is any clearer but i can only hope.
    Cheers

i think perhaps what you need are just some logic “and” gates running the lower rows of lamps, so that both conditions have to be true for them to light up. hope that helps.
    cheers

    *edit*
no, i think that won't work.
    i'll get back to you.
am i correct in thinking you want the same note in the same octave to make different lights come on if you are already using it?

thanks. yeah that's about the size of it the notes only light when in combination with certain other notes. i have tried logic gates and an "if then" macro but as of yet i've not had any luck.

all i can think of is making the polyphony of the instrument equal to the number of rows. then using ‘to voice’ and ‘from voice’ modules together with logic gates. if you want to send me a copy of what you have so far, i would be happy to have a look at it.

    cheers
