A piece of my headphones cracked today right out of the blue all I did was lift them off of my head and it was over.

They were just JVC GA-H55's but I liked them, however I've had them for a very long time. Actually two pair of them.

The other was for listening to music by the TV, but are they first pair so the vinyl cups are all tattered, blown drivers, etc. I could swap but the same thing will probably happen just due to fatigue.

So I decided it's time to buy a serious set of DJ headphones. I know of the common models out there but this Shure model really has peaked my interest.

However, of course no one has them in my location so I can't even test them out.

Does anyone, own these headphones and what's good or bad about them?

Dude did you read the shootout on DJTT? These headphones were in the review. Personally I rather like them, they look pretty sweet. I would have ordered a pair had I not stumbled upon the Sennheisers.

Power read through that article, I saw it the other day and forgot to go back and read it. I heard about the Shure's back in spring.

I'm wondering if I should even get plastic headphones anymore, they keep bloody well breaking.

This is the second pair of plastic headphones that broke on me recently. Back in summer I had the Behringer HPX-2000's have a side snap on me. But I have an service center getting a quote on a part to fix those.

The Pioneer's are all metal but expensive as hell. However, they will probably last forever.

So I have to do some more thinking, I want durability that's for sure.

Personally I'd recommend the Sennheiser Hd 25 (no matter what kind: I, II, SE, LE etc.) or the AKG 181 DJ to anybody looking to buy new cans!
Don't know about the shures though, I haven't had a chance to test those yet...

I've read about the Seinheiser's as well. They are highly recommended. I just seen the AKG's as well.

I think I might go for the HDJ 2000's since they are an all metal chassis. I'm sick of the plastic built headphones breaking.

That's two pair of headphones over the last few months.

Just have to keep watching for door crashing deals.

My friend has the Shures and i find them to be too heavy.
Especially if you use a monitor and like to push a cup behind your ear.
They simply fall off my head.

I guess this is the same for a lot of headphones.
But the Pioneers (which my mate also has) are like they are made of cast iron. Heaviest thing ive ever had on my head, like wearing a World War II army helmet.

The Senns are the only plastic headphones ive had that i can see lasting a good time. They are really well made and each bit is replaceable. They have also got moveable cups so i can angle one back slightly.
They also stay on backward so that i dont mess up my hair;)

Only downside is the short 1.5m cable.

I'm not worried about weight too much because my other headphones weren't that light even though they were built with plastic being full-size.

I'm still reading up on the HD-25's because there has been a lot of positive comments on them. However, I like my ears to be enclosed so that's one problem and the fact they don't fold up.

I was hoping the Shure's were metal but they are plastic, same with the Ultrasone's HFI-580's which are peaking my interest a bit as well.

If your not worried about weight then the Pioneers are a good choice.
The Senns are not that big at all and certainly dont enclose your ears fully so im guessing they arent right for you mate. The Pioneers do enclose, they are like Princess Leias buns (hair). They are quite big. They also fold.

Personally I think the short cable is perfect....I always hated the weight of my 3m Sony HPs cable just hanging down and at the side of the mixer and weighting my head down....also there less chance of the short cable getting all tangled up!
If one wants a longer cable luckily Sennheiser has provided 2 different types (curled and straight) as well as different lengths (1,5m, 3m, 4 or 5m) for the HD-25s...also there are different connectors: angled as well as straight!

I've had numerous headphones over the years (Sony MDR V300, V500, V700, Numark PHX, Stanton Pro3000 (but the old ones)) and all of them broke, or one cup died on me or sth...my sennheiser are the only ones that have survided all situations I threw at them!

The thin plastic they are made of seems a bit flimsy at first, but it's sorta bendable and extremely tuff! Eventhough they don't fully cup your ear the sound isolation is more than good and the soundquality is just wicked, I even use them in the studio!
Plus, due to their small size, they fit in any bag and take up less space than let's say f.ex. my old Sony MDR V700s when folded!

I'm still going to keep my eyes on those because I only a heard a couple negative things compare to the oodles of positive reviews.

WTF, do you have to do for this to happen?

Right now I think I will only consider the Seinheiser's or the Pioneer's based on what I'm reading. I remember I had a set of Seinheiser headphones with the yellow earcups and they were a very nice set until some fool stole them.

    Price hunting, here we go.

Hell nah, I try to make my stuff as long as possible. I actually got a pair of HD555's when I built my studio system because NCIX had a great deal on them at the time. They are nice studio headphones, I can build a beat and listen to it when it's late and hear everything I need to.

But you're right I don't think I could crack the pioneers like that. The only problem with the HD-25's I see visually is the ear cups. Like I was saying to Karlos, I like my ears to be enclosed.

Still researching so I can make a decision and purchase tomorrow, freaking expensive both of these. I've see the HD's as high as $264.

People's comments are that the HD25's are plain looking, but you can get kits for them to make them look really cool.

Do you really believe Karlos mailed those? He pocketed the dough and is laughing while giging with 'em.
