DJM S-11 Traktor

Looks like he did the same thing with the S11 as I did with the Rane Seventy. No screen, no software FX but other than that working fine with Traktor

 

I saw this video, where does he have it for sale?

 

by the way, I was able to take an S9 mapping and modify it pretty easily for the basic functions of S11. Actually most of the midi mappings for the basic functions are exactly the same as S9.

I was able to test it out along with the pair of rane 12 MK IIs. The combination actually works pretty nicely, so going to figure out how to do a more complete mapping now.

I’m thinking of getting an s7 and already have a good map for the pads only. If a pioneer s11 owner can provide me with the midi keys for the pads and for the pad changing buttons in return I give a real good mapping.

You’ll find that I set it up for anybody’s to expand on it.

The mapping I will give has

Hotcue/Pitch play. = M1
Roll. = M2
Looping. = M3
Slicer. = M4

This way you don’t run out of modifiers when you want to add more like using top pads for pitch play while the bottom pads are hot cues for example. (Maybe I add this in)

Also I need to find what the colour pallet for the leds as well. My controller has 64 colours to choose from so the mapping for the leds on the pioneer will not reflect the beautiful colours that my controller provides.

Well compared to the RANE Seventy it is an improvement for the S7 that BROWSE, VIEW and PREPARE have different MIDI keys left and right.

I already explained how I’m gonna do it.

Send me info on the rane and I’ll give you the same mapping. The mapping is already done and working, I just need to apply midi learn to your appropriate keys

I took a look at it and noticed something.

If someone with the mixer can turn midi learn on an tell me what they see then I can start finishing it.

I need to find out what midi learn says when you press Pad#2 on the left side. Then hold shift and press Pad#1 on the left side and let me know what it says. Then do the same on the right side.

By looking at your mapping I take it you are only interested in 3 decks + fx.

Here’s something to try out. Just the pads, pad mode, shift and parameter buttons are working. I’m pretty sure that you can add the pitch play to your mapping. I’m interested in how the leds works. Understand that this is for the pioneer.

Press hotcue twice to enter pitch play. The parameters will shift up an down the scale. If the leds work you should see the root key on the pads and you will know where you are when key change. Parameters work for slicer.

Hotcues =. Hotcue/pitch play
Loop. =. Auto loop sizes
Roll. = Roll
Sampler. =. Slicer.

Hopefully it even works and gives you some ideas.

Very tempted to get an S7 myself. I just need to understand what WON’T work in Traktor...

 

From what I can make out from the block diagram is that each sound card carries 10in/10out.

If Traktor had a second ext fx engine you’d be able to use the mixer to it’s full.

I think the rane’s soundcard has a couple more ins/outs.

 

If you spend sufficient time in mapping then you will probably get everything to work except post fader FX.
And since it is a two channel mixer you won't be able to independently use all 4 Traktor decks, most likely A+C and B+D will use same output.

 

According to the mixer’s sound card you have a super channel on the mixer called the sampler. You can assign anything to it including both decks c/d to play from there and control the the volume level too. (Remix decks are traktor’s version of samplers)

You can have post fx but only for one deck though. However you could probably use the mixer’s fx sends for the loop recorder, but gotta test it when I get it.

 

Can anyone with S11 verify that the EQ+Trim+Filter+Sliders output dual CC numbers at once?

 

Ummm… Am I missing something obvious, or, do the S7, S9 & S11 NOT HAVE cue buttons like ever other DJM mixer?!?

 

No, they have a cue fader, like a lot of 2 channel battle mixers.
