Do envelopes work with sampler module?...

when using the sampler module with an envelope connected to the A input,

for single drum hits, not looped, when I turn the release all the way up, I can't really turn the attack up if I want to, doesn't do anything.

If I turn the release down, sustain down, and decay up but not too much, I can turn the attack up and it works predictably.

Anyone know why it functions this way, perhaps there is a way do it.

Or should I perhaps just keep the sustain turned down and just work with the attack and delay?

Ive got a pretty cool drum macro in the works, nothin too special but it will be a flexible tool.
