Just started out with maschine, been making some songs and getting the hang of it. I am one of those people that like to keep products by the same manufacturer (Samsung phone, tablet and tv) and I am therefore wondering if I should pick up a komplete kontrol, and if so which one. I just ordered the S49 mk2 but do I really need it? Or is the KKM32 enough for just laying down some pianobits? Considering that I have the Maschine mk3 too?

    Sorry for bad english. :)

Edit: I have a nektar gx 49 today, but the velocity really doesn't play well with maschine...

I would say that if you need it you'll know it , beware of the GAS ( Gear acquisition syndrom );)

After a few monthes of use , the piece of gear that came to my mind was 48V phantom power ( or a soundcard with 48V) supply in order to sample directly with MK3 using a decent microphone.

Its cool to have a good keyboard but , for the music I make the Chord function of maschine and pitches Shortcuts do the job.

I just added a S49 Mk2 to my Maschine mk3 about a month ago and I’m really happy with it. I’m still learning keys and the scale lights are really helping me learn. I was using an akai mpk mini for my melodies before and the KK S49 is a whole new world for me. I’m still getting a handle on the best workflow using both NI devices, but as long as you’re fine with spending that money I think you won’t regret the purchase. One downside is the Maschine is not as high as the keyboard so side-by-side without something lifting up the Maschine to make the surfaces flush can get annoying. (Sometimes my hand hits the side of the keyboard when hitting the rightmost pads on my Maschine, still looking for an elegant solution to get the Maschine at the same angle and height as the S49).

Congrats on the KK S49 I’m sure you’ll love it. Cheers.

I agree with Nahz20Hz I think its a really solid purchase, you dont "need it" but the light up keys are really helpful. Im a keyboard noob so i loved mine hah. I also like to keep the products together and buy into the NI ecosystem.

If money is not a issue... I would cancel that order and spend the extra money and get the S61 key version of the KK MK2. Those extra keys will come in handy for piano playing and things like some Kontakt instruments that are spread across the keys.
