Documentary/film scoring

Is Kontakt good for film scores/documentaries, etc? Any film composers here use it? I'm looking for a good set of sounds to work with Logic. I see there's a pending update, so I'm waiting to purchase. Thanks for your input.

 

Sure, it's good for documentary/film scoring. I use it for orchestral work all the time.

To be honest, your question is a little apples/oranges -- kind of like asking, "Is this Mercedes suitable for taking me to the grocery store?" Well, yes, it can take you to the grocery store, as well as many other places...

If your history has been with EXS, then you'll find a much more fully-featured sampler in Kontakt.

 

I'm not certain if your question is about the application Kontakt, the sample library bundled with Kontakt, or the entire range of sample libraries available in Kontakt format. If you want to read comparisons of different sample libraries a good place to look is the Northern Sounds forum. There have been many discussions about sample libraries there in the past (here's one), so be sure to read old threads before you start new ones about the same subjects. Personally I like VSL sample libraries. In all discussions about samples and sample libraries it's good to keep in mind that people are always a little biased to what they have invested in.

Sorry, yes to clarify I meant are the orchestral sounds included good for orchestral instruments? Compared to other sets available out there. I was curious if people with orchestral scoring focus use Kontakt. I see it advertises using the VSL sounds. Thanks.
