Does EP 1.5 need EP 1.1 to work?

Sorry for a possibly dumb question, but I just installed the 1.5 update (Komplete 4) and noted that it didn't overwrite ver. 1.1, but performed a completely new installation from scratch, while leaving untouched the older one, either stand-alone and plugs; also, the Service Center kept the old version "activated" while adding the new one, activated as well. All the other 11 updates I installed for Komplete 4 behaved differently (each new one overwrote the old one).
Does this mean that I must keep ver 1.1 on my disk or can I delete the old stuff?

    Thanks.

EP 1.5 does need EP 1.1 because it uses the same sample files. Although I would expect with a careful uninstall of EP 1.1 but leaving the sample files, you could get it to work.

Actually it doesn't even need a *carefull* unistall: I just left the original sample library there and trashed 1.1. Yesterday, a message from NI support team confirmed that the only thing you need is the sample library, not the application.

The 1.5 read-me file states: "(Ver 1.5) Uses the existing samples (NKS files inside the library path), i.e. you need to have the old version installed with at least the stand-alone version and the library.", but that's not completely true, as you actually need the old stand alone version *just* in order to install the library; after that, you do not need it anymore.
