Hi, Looking at the product description for iMASCHINE, I can't tell if there is any support for MIDI control. Is it possible to control the pads on iMASCHINE with something like MASCHINE Mikro? If not, I would like to recommend this as a valuable feature to consider adding. -Michael
It's a basic app for making loops on the move. There would be no point in it using external controllers at this point.
MIDI Support Hooking up an Akai LPK 25 (or Korg's controller) would be helpful for playing riffs on the go. GarageBand for iOS and most of the other iOS DAW apps support coremidi.
I have irig pads and it would be nice to beable to play my sketches out on a phisical controller like i do with many other apps that are often free.
Even the simplest of "sketch pads" offered in the App Store offer MIDI in/out. For some odd reason, NI doesn't get that people on the go would travel with a keyboard or beat pad and would plug it in to their iOS device. Personally, I have left this app behind and have moved on to BeatMaker 2. Combined with my QuNeo and XKey, I can literally make tracks anywhere and to near completion. iMaschine (in its very limited capabilities) is cool and all but if it is trying cater to the iOS musician, it has failed miserably. then again it does set out to do what it claims by just being a sketch pad. If you are okay with that, then this is the app for you.
The first imaschine app supports MIDI input so can't understand why the 2nd updated version doesn't?? Please add this to an update!!
There hasn't been an iteration of iMaschine that has supported MIDI yet which is beyond weird seeing as NI has been making some of the best controllers out there. Traktor DJ on the other hand, allowed for users to plug into their controller directly.
The thing is, if they were to even produce a new Mikro that allowed you to use it with iOS, I would buy it. That alone would be worth it. But NI doesn't even allow you to buy controllers WITHOUT the software. So in essence you would need to buy the complete package again if you want to upgrade your hardware past the 1 year warranty.
Come to think of it, it was the MPC Element that enticed me to buy the MPC Studio. Messing around with the Element and MPC Pro on my iPad was a cheap and easy process to create "sketches" and then when they fixed the export option, I made the jump. Now I use that as well as the QuNeo with BeatMaker 2 while I'm out and about and even when I'm working out of other people's studios.
