    Hi,

I'm aware that digital performer 4 and reaktor aren't getting along so hot these days, but what I'm wondering is whether or not there might be some users out there who are running reaktor like a VST and then running that into dp4 via the audio wrapper from audio ease. Is this even possible with reaktor 4?

i’ve used their old wrapper with dp3 and reaktor3, and it worked very well. haven't tried the new one, but i bet it would be solid. you should download the demo and try it out.

of course, if you are only interested in using reaktor with dp you should probably just sit tight and wait for the next update which will fix this issue and a great many others. its been in beta for a while now, should be out really soon.

which update is in beta right now? DP4 or reaktor? I'm assuming that at least one of these pieces of software will have to be released relatively soon. I used to use dp3 and in os 9 as well, but it reaktor was running straight into the MAS and it worked fine (though my computer at the time was somewhat slow). Shouldn't reaktor 4 run straight into the MAS?

this semi workaround for sequencing Reaktor in DP4 has been posted often.
works quite well for me on my dual gig G4 desktop, no so well on my 500 mhz Powerbook.

-In DP go to the Setups menu and select the Interapplication MIDI menu.
-create generic DP MIDI Inputs and Outputs using the Add button.
-create a MIDI track and select this new DP Output as the output source.
-next open Reaktor as a standalone application.
-in Reaktor under the MIDI preferences select the DP Inputs/Outputs as the MIDI devices.
-you can now sequence, provided you've got the processor to handle it, Reaktor with DP.

Audio will have to be routed another way though. I just use an external mixer and send the signal back into DP.

    Hope this helps.

that's good to hear. I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I'm working on a 1.25 ghz powerbook...hopefully I'll have some luck. Thanks for the advice. Do you know anything about this 'beta' update and when this kind of solution won't be necessary?

i was referring to the reaktor 4.05 update which will include a dp friendly au.
reaktor 4 has no mas support. on os 9 the vst wrapper was only useful to send audio to reaktor, as a fx insert in dp.

The next update is in beta. I can't give any specific dates though, but hopefully it won't be too long.
