Are D&D import capabilities limited to Maschine's browser, or is it possible to drag an audio clip from the host's arrangement/timeline onto a pad (like you can with Battery)?

Huh, I thought this would be quick and easy to answer from those in the know...

So for example, could I lay down a funky guitar lick in my host (Reaper) and then drag it into Maschine to trigger from a pad? Along those lines, can one drag-n-drop from Explorer or the Desktop into Maschine?

jamester...it looks like from the videos you'd have to render it in Reaper..to a folder then import it onto a pad in MASCHINE....of course, since I don't actually own one...I might just be blowing smoke...but that's what I gathered from the videos

    Thanks for the response Eric.

I think you are right, I got the same sense from the vids but I figured I'd ask and be sure. Reaper has a nice Ctrl+Alt+Drag rendering ability, so I suppose I can just render out to my project's audio folder (or desktop) and import from there via Maschine's browser. Would be nice if it could be done directly though, cut out the middle-man...

I also hope that in working this way, Maschine doesn't force a "tagging/categorizing" dialog everytime I want to import a sample. I like to do things like this on the fly, and don't always want my clips saved and catalogued for future reference in the Browser.

Tagging's completely up to you. It does make things easier to find later if you want to reuse them, though.

    and to add.

if you have a Audio Folder with your DAW, where you put your recordings and edits, you can tag this folder for use with Maschine, just by typing in the name of the folder and clicking import.

ah...will the Maschine monitor this folder for changes....so, let's say we create a "maschine clips" folder....and add a few wav files in there....then, a couple of days later, we add 3 more...will maschine software automatically "see" the new wav's or do we have to re-import the folder?

good question and this had me troubled

then i discovered the List of Favourites. with this you can assign various folders to your Favourites List. these folders are definitely updated when changed... i have just checked ;)

so maybe this is better than "Importing" a folder, as we were suggesting before.

Possibly; it depends on the host. This works in Reaper by holding Ctrl+Alt and dragging...
