    Hi there,

i bought me the update to traktor pro2. i'm using the numark omnicontrol and the akai mpd 26 additional.
everything works fine apart from changing the fx. the effect is not activatet on any deck, but if i'm changing from one effect to another i become dropouts. doesn't matter if i change it with the controler or with the mouse.
maybe some of you can help me, or got a similar problem.

    cheers

Your latency seems really high for 256 samples - 37ms? Are you sure you have ASIO and not WDM selected?

I am on a Core2 Duo with 2GHZ and 4GB ram with optimized W7 32b having same issues. I've tried various latency setting and monitored cpu load. there are no other issues detectable.

So from my point of view it is a software issue. Anyone else having the same issue?

    cheers

This is the same issue i have since weeks, see there : http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138719

The only work around i have found is to change fx without been engaged on a deck.
Very bad behaviour, and piss me off since i had no issue on TP1, and to change my workflow for a small detail is awfull.

yes i really choose ASIO and the latency and samples preferences are fix. i only can switch between these different preferences:

    49 samples - 2.1 / 10.3 ms
    64 samples - 2.4 / 16.8 ms
    128 samples - 3.9 / 25.6 ms
    256 samples - 6.8 / 37.8 ms
    512 samples - 12.6 / 61.5 ms
    1024 samples- 24.2 / 99.7 ms

and i tried it all, but there wasn't any advancement.

No in this case it does not rely on buffers and latency. I guess it's NI's approach on how FX are loaded. Rotating through FX assigned to a deck will load fx and send instantly audio to it. If you cycle through it loads, fills with audio, discard, loads next... and so you get the glitches.... the faster you sroll the more glitches you get.

So from my point of view NI really needs to optimize this routine. But I might be wrong ;) I opened a ticket at the tech support.

    cheers

@djwax: jap this sounds possible. cause this is exactly the way it behave. the faster i scroll, the worse it sounds.

    cheers

how fast you scroll has no effect, I can create this glitch just by making one switch between the effects consistently........NI really needs to work on this....

yes it's the same with me. even by changing the fx with mouse clicking i can hear the dropouts.
so i've written to the technical support like some others does. hope that will help.

    cheers

    same here.
the only workaround is to turn off the deck effect before changing to an other one, and reactivating it devkwise afterwards as mentioned by elefanc.

    Hello

I used to have the same problem. I figure out that if you unlink the effect from all channels before switching there is no dropout. After you switch you relink it. It's a bit annoying but it was the only way I could solve it.

This is only one in my list of things I hate in Traktor. Hope it helps you though, dropouts are really embarrassing.

    Best

Thanks for the workaround alessandrosra. I had a thought that it might be down to large amounts of MIDI out being sent when flicking through effects (all the encoder values being output) but this would suggest this is not the cause.
