Drum Fill Patterns with follow action

    Hi!

I just thought about reactivating my Maschine for my live performance (in combination with Ableton Live) and now I asked myself, if it is possible to achieve following workflow nowadays:

    • Create different drum patterns for a track (length 1-4 bars)
    • Create different drum fill patterns (1 bar length)
    • When triggering a drum fill pattern switch to it "legato style" (so that we don't need to play the full clip) and go back to the pattern played before
This is (near) perfectly achievable with Ableton live and follow actions, but I wanted to try if could store the whole drum thing in my Maschine Plugin.

    Thanks for reading :)

    Greetings

    Sebastian

You can do this with switching patterns or scenes. You can set the grid to quantize when the switchover happens. I don’t think legato style is an option.

Triggering/changing Patterns is always "legato style" because there is no Sync for pattern changes, that's only a thing for Sections/Scenes.
Regardless Maschine has no follow actions as does Live (not that you need it based on your explanation tho)

Just activate the Fill Pattern whenever you want then activate one of your main Drum Patterns.

Thanks to both of you :)
Ok, that means If I just switch pattern, I always have to be in time after triggering my drum fill to go back to the basic beat? :)
That would it make kind of hard for me to play different things on other instruments during the "drop", but I'll give it a try.
Maybe I could merge some behaviour from Live with clips triggering pattern changes to achieve my follow action workflow :)

You can set a perform grid (beat, bar, scene,...) for scenes. This means you need to organize your set (including fills) in scenes.
Unfortunately, patterns switch immediately by design. Synced/quantized pattern changes is buried on the feature request list since a long time.

No. Patterns are switched immediatley, but they are switched synchronized as if all patterns where continuously looping. You can easily switch between patterns anytime in the middle of a bar and back without having to worry about your timing. This is quite cool to spice up patterns, or to come across new ideas.
