ive been looking at the mapping editor for kontakt.

can u tell me if it will be as easy to map individual drum hits as it is in battery..

keyzone to one key and original note to the same key for multiple samples..

how will kontakt handle dragging in multiple single drum hits..?

will you be able to set key maps by an external midi keyboard?

battery looks very easy for this sort of thing....im wondering how kontakt will compare...

thanks in advance for any help...

You can drag many samples and drag them into the keymapper at the same time. The width of each zone is dependent on how high you drag - you can map one sample to one key like in battery, or you can map one sample to a range of keys depending on how you move the mouse and how many samples you're adding at once.

You can also create a new instrument with one sample mapped across the entire instrument simply by double-clicking on a sound in the browser (with preview of course!).

I forgot to say that you CAN use MIDI to set your key and velocity ranges.

one cool related feature is the "default instrument." With the default instrument, you can set up kontakt's semi-modular structure as you like (for instance sampler with velocity mapped to pitch going through a waveshaper and a 4-pole highpass filter with a step sequencer controlling filter resonance). Then every time you create an instrument by dragging a sound onto Kontakt it will have this setup.

Or you can use the battery import which imports not only the sample but the entire kit settings including all modulation...
