I'm ready to buy a new machine. What I would like to do is dual boot with 2 separate installs of Windows 7. One for everyday use, and one for DJing (stripped for TSP, no Anti-virus or Office)

Has anyone done this? Any licensing/activation issues with Windows 7?

I tried this, didn't work, system doesn't boot 2 win 7. Maybe it's possible I don't know. I have dual boot but Xp for every day and Win7 for playing.

I have no problem dual booting win7...

I also had xp and win7, but, for me, i think Traktor runs more stable in win7.

    Mondraker,

Do you have two separate partitions or 2 system folders on the same partition?

Yes this can be done, I run Windows 7 and stripped XP partitions and had a dual boot vista previous with no auth issues. Just install Windows 7 onboth seperate partitions then run EasyBCD to change the boot.ini file and you will be able to select which parition you want to load on bootup.

I don't think this would allow me to not have AV software running. I want a completely stripped down 7 install for TSP, and one for everyday use.

I am working like that for an year or less... and it works like charm, one ver is striped down for TSP and other for everyday work... Made 2 partitions for that and third is for music... That is a very good solution if you do not have 2 PC, or money to buy 2 pc :)

why not use a Virtual Machine instead of dual booting?

Two separate logons ok, I think. Because under a different logon you can have less extraneous programs/services running. In fact, I believe that's recommended by the Traktor people to optimize your system. The dual boot way just takes it a step further.

As for a virtual machine, that's like running two systems at the same time! Sort of taking up twice the resources. I wouldn't try that at all.

Now people, if you have anything further to add or correct, by all means do so. I'd hate to be wrong about something in the middle of my set!
