So I've set up my laptop dual booting windows 7 64bit  .

Partition 1: Traktor Sytem- No internet or anti virus, all non essential hardware dissabled, optimised for minimal system resource drain.

Partition 2: General system- running Internet and AV protection and aero etc...

Partition 3: Data with an extended partition swap space of 6GB.

I have a few Q's (sorry if they are a bit stupid this is a new experience):

Can I put NI Service Centre on partition 2 (with the internet) and still have it recognise the status of Traktor on partition 1 offering me relevent downloads? I would then save them to the data partition to run in the traktor os later.

What are your opinions on swap space partitions and how to run pagefiling in general?

Has anyone got any general advice on running this type of setup successfully?

Links to relative info would also be greatly appreciated. Most of the stuff I found tended to be quite old.

    Thank you for your time,

    Dave

Most people say don't mess with the page file. You cwertainly on't get a performance boost, as it causes your machine to constantly swap between two partitions.

No. You need to do an offline authorsation. Then simply log in on the NI site to download updates.

    Thanks,

I think I'll need to run a special app now to defrag the windows os partition and put the automatic windows pagefile at the beginning of the drive.

Anyone else running a similar setup? Who else is running windows 7?
