I was hesitant about upgrading OS’s and computers because I like my current gear and didn’t want to get all new stuff.

In case anyone is wondering, the apogee duet FireWire DOES work with iMac 5k running high Sierra, through the thunderbolt 3 port using a fw800 to thunderbolt 2 adapter into a thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 adapter. I have had zero problems with it or maestro 2 software.

I can also confirm that Maschine 2 and mk3 work smoothly and all of them play nice with logic x.

Hope this helps anyone doing research.

Good to know. I keep saying "tonight I'll update" but I don't want the 2 hour down time.

This is crucial. I always wait before blindly updating. You want to give time for every software and hardware company to make sure they can confirm, deny, and update and let you know. Even though most get access to the beta versions of the operating system, most usually still lag behind. Waiting is better than jumping at it and finding out some critical part of your music work flow is now inoperable.

The worst was when I updated to Mountain Lion on my old Mac Pro 1,1 before I got the new trashcan looking one. Suddenly OSX wasn't supporting the old PowerPC CPU's, so half of my programs stopped working until I got a new computer altogether (I mean... it was time anyways).

I'll mention too that they do make Firewire 800 adaptors that go straight to Thunderbolt 3 so you can skip the extra step. That's given me a lot of problems before, where removing the extra step solved them. Heads up there.
