    Win XP
    Public Beta 2 (V1.2.0.7)
    Xone 92
    Xone 1D

    I have 4 decks setup:

    2 Vinyl control (A +B)
    2 Internal Decks (C +D)

1 button (X) to duplicate Deck A to Deck C
1 button (Z) to duplicate Deck B to Deck D

First I tried to have the assignment table setup like the following:

    Button X
    Duplicate Deck A - Assignment Deck C
    Sync Deck C

    Button Z
    Duplicate Deck B - Assignment Deck D
    Sync Deck D

But i've found that if Deck A is in Vinyl mode, Deck C won't sync with it and the sync light won't stay activated

I've read in past posts that people seem to blame the turntables wow and flutter for this variation but the bpm on the Vinyl controlled deck seems to be fairly stable (variations of maybe 0.02 BPM) but the Master Clock tempo varies drastically in comparison.

Why can't the Master clock tempo use the readout that is displayed on the individual Deck display (there's obviously a reason for this)

So I now have my assignment table setup with the following commands

    Button X
    Duplicate Deck A - Assignment Deck C
    Sync Deck C
    Scratch Mode Internal Deck A
    Set to Master Deck A

    Button Z
    Duplicate Deck B - Assignment Deck D
    Sync Deck D
    Scratch Mode Internal Deck B
    Set to Master Deck B

Which works but it's not very elegant

My other problem which i'm pretty sure is a bug is the gain vales (maybe only visually "GUI" are not duplicated with the deck)

This is kind-of like what I was just talking with people on another thread about.

Traktor will not let you "sync" a timecoded deck. which sucks, and hopefully they can fix this, but I do understand why they have it the way it is right now.

I kind of get around it by having midi buttons set up to turn off scratch control when I'm finished messing around with a deck (cueing, scratching, juggling, etc..) thus rendering it internally controlled where I can sync another deck up with it, play it, mix it in, and not have to worry about it.

Only thing is I don't know if this is something that could be fixed, or truly if it should be. Why? Because any fix I see to this would take away from the preciseness of the timecode control of a deck. The only way I can think of to fix it would to be to "round-off" the timecoded tempo to match another deck whenever sync is pressed on the timecoded deck. Well if the tempo is rounded off, that's effectively cutting into exactly how precise of a reading the DVS gets off the record/CD. This will effect any scratching, beatjuggling, and any other movement you make on the timecode to adjust what's going on in Traktor. Not to mention that's one of the main reasons I'm with traktor instead of serato, I just feel it has a more precise feel to what I'm doing on the record.

They couldn't round off the timecode readout for the timecoded controlled decks. You're right it would just take the vinyl feeling away, but it thin if they rounded off the decks output to the master clock and then synced that to the beatgtid it would be a lot "tighter" than it is now

Are both of the tracks (the one in deck A as well as the one in deck C in this example) beatgridded? Because if they are not, the sync will not "stay on" but will only "flash" (ie. sync when you play but not keep the tracks in sync) ... and this has nothing to do with timecode, duplicated decs or anything like that but instead is caused by the fact that you can't synchronize songs that have not been beatgridded.

Ok, that was the easy solution... I'm trying to figure this out, because I personally have been unable to reproduce this yet.

Is the problem constant... ie. does it happen every time on your system or only pro tem?

you can sync a timecoded deck, but you cant sync-lock a timecoded deck.
    please be precise here...

    Hey Disco Nova,

after playing around with this tonight, I think thy may have fixed it from Public Beta 2 to the Final version.

I did get a support ticket, so maybe it was an easy fix.

Problem that i'm finding now though is:

Deck A (Vinyl Control) 122.18BPM - Deck C (Virtual deck)
Copy Deck A to Deck C
    Deck A is Master
    Deck C is Slave

    Take needle off Deck A

Deck C slows down in speed (was 122.xx now 113.16)

Shouldn't it just keep the value it was syncing on as the needle comes off?

you're stopping the master - what do you expect?
just change the master assignment before you stop the master (= here, removing the needle).

I don't think it should drop by 10 bpm, it's not even dropping to the tracks analyzed value, it's dropping it below that value and that doesn't make any sense to me

it's totally logical... you're working with vinyl... while you're removing the needle, there is still timecode readout that get's read erratic as slow down. how should traktor know that you take the needle off and are not using the pitch fader? ? !

while i agree that there can be improvements in the whole syncing + timecode theme, this one is a technical no-go.

if you define a deck as master and remove the playback, you'll run into problems.
you have to change the master first to another deck!

cool, i get it. Looking forward to the improvements, thanks Native Girl

Should I open a feature request for the whole syncing + timecode theme or is it enough that you know about it and pass everything along.
