Hi guys, you might be interested in this.

I've written a program called Katapult, that let's you use the Launchpad with any MIDI software. It can map totally custom multipage layouts of buttons, faders and so on to the Launchpad, and send the midi output to any midi device or software. Check it out here:

    www.midikatapult.com

I wrote it specifically for my personal use with Traktor, and have been using it on my gigs, but it's evolved to a state where it can actually be used with any MIDI software, so I've put out a public beta of it.

Fantastic, will try it as soon as I get some free time.
Is there any documentation ? Perhaps you could make a PDF of your notes -mappings that you already made, be it Traktor or whatever else.

Got as far that I can see the midi activity - Traktor`s indicator, some limited on your app but nothing works, not even play and anyway then everything freezes or turns yellow.....

    Hi Aviray!
Are you on mac or windows? What input/output devices did you select? What is your Java version? Have you got the latest Launchpad USB drivers?
    ---
By the way, there is documentation plus a sample mapping for Traktor in the download as well

    Vista,launchpad, updated, updated.
Yes there is documentation but not much, not too clear and little bit messy= different text files. I wish you all success but if you really want to sell it, earn some money, you have to have all better organised.
Unless you aim at nerds and geeks (Mind you they can make their own apps anyway),normal people have no time to play with software, they want to use it. If it does not work in reliable way and has no simple way to make it functional, the choice will be what works, not what might work.
Faderfox DJ, DX are success just like NI X will be because you plug them in and use them, most users will pay some more for whatever works without wasting time.
If you are professional DJ it means long hours, less time to fiddle with sh... another reason that so many buy Macs, PC can work the same or better but at time /tweak expense for which many have no time neither desire.

Okay, the problem is that you selected the Launchpad as in/out device. You need to select the MIDI port for the software/hardware you want to use it with. If your software doesn't publish its own MIDI ports, you can use midiYoke to create some instead. MidiYoke can be downloaded here: http://www.midiox.com/myoke.htm

This "mess" of course is my bad. Leaving the Launchpad port in the menu makes no sense, since it would seem most obvious to select that then.

I get your point on better ease of use and better documentation. Thanks for sharing :) It's always been the plan to put together a more robust documentation for the actual release, but seeing this is a beta, I decided to put it out with the basics, that I figured would be enough for most people to get it going. Obviously the documentation is still quite lacking, so I'm focusing mainly on that for the next beta release. I have already taken out the option to select the Launchpad in the device menu. That should make it a bit more understandable :)

    Thanks for your feedback!

Now, this I don't get at all, software , you mean Traktor or whatever Live, Cubase writing their own midi ports, never heard about anything of the kind.
Now that does not make much sense, not to select Launchpad when it is suppose to be for Launchpad......
Anyway all the best to you in your endeavour

Just released beta 1.05. Here's the changes:

    - Updated documentation
    - Fixed a bug that caused the Launchpad buttons to lock up right after starting
    - Fixed a bug that prevented the Launchpad buttons from when Katapult was started

    @aviray
Traktor does in fact publish it's own MIDI ports. They are called "Traktor Virtual Input" and "Traktor Virtual Output". I am pretty sure that Logic can also do this :) Anyways, I removed the option to select the Launchpad from the menu, that was definitely a bit confusing. The reason you select a MIDI device at startup is that Katapult has to know where to send it's MIDI data to. Does that clear it up?

    Cheers!

Tried it with Automap midi and Automap Propellerheads, does not work. If it does not work with the device proper-LP, neither those 2 Automap I am not interested installing another app, midiyoke or whatever. If it is Launchpad should work with launchpad or at least Automap midi. As I told you I use what works. Tried already what someone else did and posted on this forum for Launchpad, using Launchpad in/out and it works.
As I wrote before, the choice will be always what works, free or paid.
