i noticed this isn't Traktor ready, yet the whole mixer is MIDI assignable. i found a few threads in the forum about teh Evo 4, but they all seemed to be about using it with Traktor Scratch.

my question is, can this mixer be used to play 4 channels in Traktor Pro without any interface or an external MIDI controller?

heloo i think without any interface

    MIDI Control EVO 4

    - 29 assignable MIDI controls
    - Dedicated MIDI panel with 4 rotary
    and push encoders
    - MIDI Clock

yah... i kind of figured this too, but why wouldn't Native Instruments promote it as "Traktor Ready"?

It isnt Traktor Ready as it doesnt come with supplied Traktor midi config files nor are there any on the NI website. It can still be used as for midi control you just need to map it yourself and you would be able to control 4 decks via midi in internal mode with Traktor Pro (not scratch) but you would need the Audio 8 DJ.

It isnt Traktor Certified either so you would still need the Audio 8 soundcard to use timecode.

I think quite a few people would like to see the Evo4 certified.

i'm sure someone out there has a TKS file they could share just to start off with, and then i could change it to my preferences as i go.

but yah, i was quite surprised to see that it was not Traktor Certified. especially because i remember reading somewhere that NI & Ecler had a very good working relationship.

Erm I own an EVO4 and have done for a few weeks now, unless I'm missing something huge there is no soundcard built into the Evo 4 and therefore how could it be certified? I use it as a hardware mixer and have mapped some of the controls to it like fine pitch and beatjump. I have hooked it up via my Audio 8 though.

I have an Evo 4 since august. I don't see why you shouldn't finish your review.

As for midi control, I don't think you can use it to control 4 decks(or 2). Maybe if it had some midi buttons.

Just to give you an idea of how I assigned some of the knobs
I use channel 1 & 4 as midi where I control the effects of TSP(chained and advanced) and I have set the top 4 endless knobs for searching the playlist, load, seek and stuff like that but you can assign them to whatever you want. You can also get a nanokontrol or nanopad and you are good to go
I am still trying out different layouts. I can't figure out how to use channel 2 & 3 as midi and to control the music(I mean I can't find any use for it)

my comment was more so when i first read about the Evo 4. after the Nuo 4 being Traktor Ready, and seeing the Evo 5 was Traktor Certified, i figured it would only be logical for it to be Traktor Certified.

this doesn't make much sense to me, but i've yet to get my hands on this piece... so maybe you are correct.

i was planning on getting an M-Audio Trigger Finger to use with this mixer & Traktor Pro, but i'm always up for other options.

I use mine with a VCI 100 and have only mapped the four dedicated midi rotaries to Traktor. One each for fine pitch control and then the four push controls to beatjump fwd/bck on decks one and two. I love the mixer overall, the sound is incredible! I've also been using it a little bit in Logic recently as a controller and can see its got good potential to help my fledging production efforts. The efx are nice also, beatcrusher ad ping pong delay are my two favs, that along with the variety of filters..nice!

Since I can't attach files to pm I'll post it here.
This is a temp setup and you need to assign a modifier=1.
I think that two of the rotary knobs do nothing cause I had a nano control at the time and I was testing things. Anyway this is the last tsi I could find that has only EVO4 commands.
If you have any questions or you want help for assigning sth send me a pm.
