    Otus with Traktor Pro

I am very happy with the way otus responds to traktor 3, but on traktor pro the feel for scratch seems to be a bit out of phase. I am using currently the standard tsi file downloaded from eks.fi support site.

Has anyone tried calibrating otus on traktor pro?

    Got my OTUS xchanged

Happy new year you OTUS Freaks!

Got my new Otus from EKS and it works fine. Benn palyin around some hours. The next days i´m going to work on my personal mapping.

Their Support is very friendly and quick !

(The only thing i could complain about is, that i sent in a glossy Otus and did get a matte one. But i do not mind, because i like the matte finish even better.)

@other1: I know what the problem was when i didn´t get audio last time: I didn´t change the Otus Soundcard to 48000 in the midi audio settings:eek: . ( Left it to 44100) Now that i changed it, all works as it should.

I´m curious how you have mapped your Otus.. Like to share?

    Otus Midi mapping

Thanks for the offer. I´ll give myself a try and will map my own setup. Also because i have bought a second Otus for a great price @ E..y( YES!), so i will need to remap both decks to A/C an B/D to have it running smoothly as a setup.

One thing i´m a bit unsure about... Do i have use the MIDI learn function in Traktor like i´m used to, or do i have to do it with the EKS Midi Mapper, that came with the driver installation?

One more question: Do u know, what Ean is talking about in th Techtools Forum, when he´s sying there a firmware issues with the Otus? At least i do not really know, what that comment is about.....

PS. You´re swedish guy using finnish gear? Respect, man!;)

k, here it is, remember thou that this 1 also includes the mappings for using 1 xp10 with focus to controll deck C and D and that mapping is not rly complete yet, but is fully usable for playing out

    enjoy

    Tsi file

    Hi ,

Thanx for the link for the TSi file. Just a quick note, how do you utilise the turntable part of otus? Do u leave it is Vinyl control or CDJ?

I am currently not completely convinced how otus communicates with Traktor Pro. on that aspect.

This being said I think you have mapped it very well. Especially effects mapping sense now that on extarnal mode the Traktor EQ control is not available (which I find a bit strange, but hey)

    Have a good one!

ye its in vinyl mode, but as i posted a bit up there is some strange behaviour with scratch on, as it sometimes just dont work and then just works again, but as I wrongly posted above, seems it has nothing to do with a cc number conflict

    Itching & Scratching

Thanx for getting back to me.

I think I will try not to scratch for time being and just focus on Phrasing & tweaking effects. I will let you know if I hear any news from NI about bug-fixes relating to that. (I hope they will, otherwise I will need to stick with T3 on more turntablist mixes....)

    Best regards,

    M

I just got my Otus, 1 question for anyone, I have very low output on all channels, same as on my XP10's. In the old setting with my XP10's I used a Audio8DJ as audio output.

Is there anyone outthere who has the same problem? Or anyone who knows how I can fix this?

    Setup
    1 Otus
    1 Dateq XTC
    Sony Viao

    Thanks Ronald

Hi Ronald, maybe just to isolate the problem, have you used Otus's own soundcard for audio out? On TP control panel, make sure you put sample rate 48 000 khz. if you are using Audio 8, then it may be worthwhile to check on system preferences that is selected as audio card.

I am using Mac Osx on my setup and it may have differences compared to your pc.

Jep I have used the Otus's own soundcard, and on the TP Control panel the sample rate 48 000 khz. With my Audio8 everything is ok, the audio output is perfect. But when you buy a Otus, you want the audio outputs to be ok as well. I'm going to try it on another pc as well, maybe the problem is my VIAO. Thanks Systemattik

on the old Xp10's when using them with Bison u had to go into windows->settings->controll panel-> sounds and audio devices and go into the "audio" tab and increase the volume there, and I think i have done the same on the Otus, try it and se if it works as there is no volume slider anywhere for the soundcardoutput of the Otus, but this has worked for me

Hi, I'm new to the forum and I can only hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I have just got an EKS Otus and Traktor Pro. When I try to load the Otus .tsi file I get an error saying:
"Accessor information has unknown version. Therefore it has been ignored."

I'm using version 1.0.0.250 of Traktor Pro on a MacBook Pro osx 10.5.5. I would manually map everything, but I don't understand how I can input messages to control certain decks.

EG. There is only one PLAY/CUE button but there is the deck switch button (ORANGE/GREEN)on the Otus. If I manually map the play button (orange selected) to deck A and then select green on the Otus and map the same button for deck B, it results in the same MIDI note being mapped for both decks, therefore the PLAY/CUE button controls both decks whether green or orange is selected.

Can anyone please, please help. I'm so distressed I want to return the Otus.

i dont have the otus yet. But I know why this is not working for you. i use the xone 1d and it has a similar function. You need to create a modifier out of the deck switch button. Once the modifier is created... every function you want to control inside Deck A needs to have the modifier set to off (or orange in your case) with toggle. When you want the function to control deck B you need to set the modifier in the midi-mapping to on (or green in your case) with toggle.

My personal opinion.... i dont think you should set up your software midi-mapping this way. You will be stuck in two deck mode forever this way. You cant get control of deck three and four if your using that orange/green switch cause it only has a two step toggle.

I think you should set all the controls to apply to the focused deck. Then setup 4 buttons to select your focus to decks a, b, c and d. Now you will be able to play off 4 decks at once with use of all the controls on the otus on every deck.

this is how Richie Hawtin uses his Midi controller. I use mine this way as well. I can run 4 decks perfectly off one xone 1d controller. You just have to pay attention to which deck you have in focus before you press a button on the controller.

I'd suggest using Service Centre to update to the current version of Traktor Pro, and then have another go importing the mapping.

Thanks for your help and suggestions. I updated my version of Traktor today, I even tried reinstalling it and then updating. So I guess it is something on EKS's end and their .tsi file.

However I did find a solution. If I assign MIDI channels to each function. Orange is set to MIDI channel 1, so I assign all Deck A functions to MIDI channel 1, and Green = MIDI Channel 2, so I assign all Deck B functions to MIDI channel 2. Easy Solution.

Waltwhite I will definitely try setting it up the way you suggested. It makes a lot of sense - but it probably should be used as a sober option only. I play two very different styles of music so I think I will create two custom .tsi files (one the way you suggested using the focus) and one with the A & B decks. Thanks a million for the tip.

So I'm now extremely happy with my OTUS. I'll be gigging with it this Saturday night so I will report back about it's performance.

first of all, update to the latest version, then if u r using my mapping it should work.

further: there is no need whatsoeverer to use modiferers when mapping the Otus if u dont want something special done, like 4 deck controll, for 2 deckcontroll, just swithc layers, no need to fiddle with modifiers

just remember when mapping the different decks(orange and green) to turn off learn when u r switchin decks,

and it sounds to me like u somehow get the same midichannel from both decks on the Otus, can u go into the EKS mapper and make shure the 2 layers on the Otus has different midichannels? this can also be chekked in Traktor, if the midichannel is the same on your mappin for play on the 2 layers thats your problem.

reply here how it works out for u, and we'll take it from there
