I only installed Traktor Pro today. I immediately installed all updates and then set about loading the .tsi file. I then decided to reinstall Traktor to make sure everything was ok and tried the OTUS .tsi. It still didn't work, so I tried updating again and that didn't work. Is version 1.0.0.250 the most current version?

However I figured out my main problem: switching from deck A to deck B. You are right on the mark Other1 - I was assigning the functions on the same MIDI channel. So after several hours of head scratching I'm beginning to get somewhere.

Waltwhite, your recommendation will be taking on board - it makes sense for using four decks. However for the the moment I just want to get two decks running and everything mapped. When I have that working perfect I create a new .tsi and try assigning FOCUS control. Cheers! It is definitely a set-up that requires a sober operator!

So I guess mapping everything out takes a lot of thought and time. I have been making progress but I'm unsure what is the most effective way to map the effects, and I'm having problems with using the wheel for pitch bend.

Other1 could you post a link to download your file so I can try that? I'm not sure who posted this file "1 otus 1 xp10 current 0901 midi only.tsi" I get the feeling it is yours, I tried this file earlier and it didn't work for me either.

Thanks so much for your help so far,
    I'm slightly less frustrated now.

    Hi,

Just get the latest update of Traktor Pro (1.0.2.011) , that should eliminate the problem with TSI file not working. EKS map-preset is handy and you will save a lot of time getting the mapping done. (I think it's always easier to edit existing complete map rather than making one from scratch)

    All the best,

    M

Hey guys, three is a charm or third time lucky; I retried reinstalling and updating my Traktor and hey presto it worked. So everything is running fine for me now. I just have to figure what is the best way to adjust the .tsi files to suit how I work.

I will be gigging with it for the first time tonight so fingers crossed all goes well.

Thanks ever so much for your help and suggestions.

    More problems with the OTUS.

So I did my first gig last night with the OTUS and I had severe problems with it's soundcard - severe meaning it didn't and doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong? When I go into Audio Set and choose the OTUS the little speaker icon on the main view goes from blue to red (indicating that it is not working) and none of the functions then work.

As I stated before I'm using OSX 10.5 on a MacBook Pro. I am presently up to date with Traktor Pro, and I have tried the OTUS with my version of Traktor 3 and it doesn't work on it either.

I assume you don't need audio drivers for a mac? and I have downloaded everything from EKS's website (which is only the MIDI driver) and installed it.

Am I doing something wrong or could there be a fault with the OTUS's soundcard?

    Hi Aidobel,

Have you run the installation disk that came with Otus? Also check on System Preferences > Audio > Otus box needs to be ticked.

There may be an issue if there is a conflict with the drivers from your previous soundcard. Just make sure you uninstall them.

I have had one instance when my Mac did not recognize Otus as Soundcard hardware. This was fixed simply by unplugging the USB cable and re-plugging it again.

I hope this helps. : ) Let me know how you are doing.

Have you made the changes (Select Otus soundcard / change to 48000hz) also in the MIDI Audio PAnel of OSX?

As Systemattik sais, sometimes you need to unplug and reboot the USB. Once it´s recognized it works...

Maybe turn to eks support for help. The guys there are really quick and willing... :D

I've tried it on several computers at this stage - two macs, one pc, and Traktor 2, 3 and Pro. I have also tried using the OTUS as a soundcard for my system sounds on the Mac. All cases with the Mac result in not being able to use the functions- eg. iTunes & Traktor won't allow you to play anything while OTUS soundcard is selected.

On the PC the results were entirely different - a high pitch digital artifacts noise is constantly looping very loud in amplitude. So I have concluded that there must be a problem with the soundcard, or I'm a complete technophobe!

I have organized to return the OTUS, overall I feel it is overpriced for the build quality. Maybe I have been unfortunate in my experience, but I can't help feeling that investing in the Allen & Heath controllers might be a more fruitful experience. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

    Don't give up just yet

    Hi,

The I-tunes integration problem was fixed on the new TP update. Have u installed the newest version from service center?

Also if you get really stuck, just ring up guys @ EKS. They are very helpful and I am sure you can get a new unit on warranty if it is faulty.

New equipment always takes some time to get around. My experience is very positive with Otus : ) I use Traktor 3 for gigging and TP is more studio based at the mo. Traktor 3 version responds much better for turntable part of Otus. (I am hoping this will be fixed on TP in future update)

Talking about durability. The unit has not crashed once during long sessions. (My Novation Nio 2-4 interface used to give me so much hassle....I am happy I can let it gather dust now...)

I am sure if you give it your time and patience, it will be rewarding. Otus is like a CD-Player on steroids...lol

ye, im werry pleased, the new firmware for the Otus has solved the issues I had with it (scratch and a thing with the pitchslider) and I had a driver issue that the guys at EKS solved in less than 12 hours, so IMO it cant get much better than that. :D

How do you guys hook up the Otus? Do you use an external mixer?

I'm seriously thinking about getting one. I'm sick of dragging 2 tons of gear with me.

Presently I'm using a Korg Zero 4 (which I'm unhappy with the sound quality) external mixer. It has a built in soundcard - so its just firewire back to the laptop.

I actually returned my OTUS - there was a fault with it, and considering that I felt it was overpriced and not entirely content with its built quality I decided to get a refund rather than a replacement: so I'm probably not the best to give advice from. Plenty of people here on the forum gave me there thoughts and advice on the OTUS and they all seemed to love it. I think I just didn't like it from the start, so I didn't want to get use to it.

I found that using the A/B (Green/Orange) switching it be a little awkward if you want to control both decks at the same time (e.g at times I like to loop both decks simultaneous). I also found that for my style using Traktor there wasn't enough buttons and pots.

So I'm now using the midi function on the zero 4 with two eks xp5. It is doing the job for me at the moment, but the plan is to either change to the Allen & Heath 4d, or two 1ds and a separate soundcard.

Like you I want to be carrying the least amount of equipment - so the 4d makes sense, but there seems to be a lot of reasons to have a separate soundcard.

    I hope this helps.

    I see.

Well, I just bought a Xone92 and a 1D and I'm not to happy to drag them along with me everywhere. I also take my 2 CDJ 800s with me.

If I only could find some proper carrying bags..

Does the otus do 14bit midi on the fader and platter, if so do you have it working with TPro 1.1.1?

    Hi,

Which operating system have you got? Windows or Mac?

There is a scratch-fix on windows firmware update, but I guess they are still working on that on mac-platform.

If you have a copy of Traktor 3, that is a more responsive software for Otus at the moment for Macosx.

I am patiently waiting for the firmware update to bring mac upto speed.

I use windows, I know about the latest otus firmware, just
wondering if otus can output 14bit midi for increased resolution.
